Sadly no, they started the engines but wouldn’t let me test drive it. Once I found out they lied about the one owner thing I called Brett and said I wanted a guarantee the engines were good like they said because I didn’t even trust they had winterized it at that point. He backed it in the water at the ramp and started them and sent videos of it running. They drained the oil and tilted it when I was coming to get it. When we opened the bucket for the port engine the oil was a milkshake. So we never even got to start it, just did a pressure test on the engine and water was leaking literally through the head. Once we pulled that one and saw how bad it was inside I decided to pull the other one and found that the crank was cracked. Ended up having to buy 1 new crank, 4 new heads, 8 new pistons, new valves, and several other miscellaneous parts. I’ve lost all summer and still have never driven my new boat. Mad doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel.

No, I didn’t know until after we got it home. Brett sent the videos himself and said it all checked out, I had looked at the boat two months prior and it took that long for them to get in touch with the seller. After I had sent them the money I found out they lied about everything related to the seller, it being a one owner boat, that he custom ordered the paint, everything. That’s when I called Brett (owner of PBC) and said at that point I didn’t even trust that they were telling the truth on the boat having been winterized and wanted proof the engines were good. (That’s when they backed it in the water and sent videos, with his own performance mechanics checking it out.) They wouldn’t let me test drive the boat because they said it had water in a transmission and had me make an as-is offer knowing that I needed to rebuild a transmission. They started the boat without any water hooked to it inside their shop and let it run for 10-15 seconds when we went to look at it and said they had gone through the engines and freshened it when it came in. So I made an offer based on 2 fresh engines. (And I ended up flushing the transmission and replacing a seal and having to completely redo both engines.) I sent Brett pictures of the oil in the bucket he put it in, sent him videos of the water leaking through the head and got absolutely no response. I have not gotten a final total yet on what it is going to cost to fix the engines so I have not yet asked them to do anything financial, but as soon as I know what the parts are going to end up costing I am going to call Brett and ask them to cover 50% of the engine parts which I think is extremely fair. I doubt they will do anything, but I am going to give them the opportunity to make it right. There is no chance at all that they didn’t know at least one engine was bad because they drained the oil into the buckets. They were sealed prior to my transporter picking up the boat, so my husband and I never found out anything was wrong until after the boat arrived in FL.

I don’t think you’d be happy with that trade since both engines were bad, Performance lied about the engines, said they were fresh and that they had gone through them. One was leaking water through the head and the other had a cracked crank. I’ve never even put it in the water. I’m at least 30k into parts so far and thankfully my husband owns a machine shop so there’s no labor but I hope the entire world knows what I did not, NEVER buy anything from Performance Boat Center.
Hope you get it sorted soon….
