Example, my dad bought that blue 2000 F2 Top Gun (that says Cigarette down the side) in 2005 for $150,000 with no trailer. He bought a new painted aluminum myco for $10,500 (that’s a $28,000 trailer today, same basic point to how your money is worthless). What changed on the trailer? Nothing. I bought the boat back from the guy he sold it to and then I sold in 2019. I sold it for $125,000. The boat then (pre Covid) was 18 years old. I’m sure that boat today is still worth the $125,000. The point I’m making is, that boat is still worth almost the same thing at now 25 years old as it was worth when it was 5. Your money doesn’t go very far. Not to sound like a jerk, but you can’t buy a 5 year old boat today for $150,000 like you could 25 years ago,
As for financing, I think most people pay cash for these, and if you are financing it you’re not keeping it the length of the loan so the interest doesn’t matter.

Yup, the dollar sure doesn’t go as far as it used to. Covid (the flu) wrecked everything. In the HVAC world we used to get one price increase a year on equipment, usually 3–6%. During Covid it turned into increases every three months, sometimes 6–12% each time.
A furnace and AC combo that used to cost $8–9k is now $12–15k.
My business has never been slower. Installs are the bread and butter, and at these prices nobody is buying unless they absolutely have to.
I honestly thought the Trump economy would be much better. It isn’t.
Pretty soon I won’t even be able to make payroll. My wife and I already took a 50% pay cut just to keep paying the guys. Next step might be the unemployment line.
And this warm weather isn’t helping one bit. It’s supposed to be 70° in Illinois today. What the hell.
Let`s see if I can afford gas for the boat this summer.

Our industry is the same way, vendors at this point will give us a quote that is only good for 30 days, and the new one is never less.
The next thing is just like during COVID delays in delivery, now our shelter manufactures are giving us 44-46 week lead times!
I have said it before and will again, where is the added cost coming from? SOMEONE has to be making more for things to cost more yet I know no one keeping up with the cost increases. Yes I know Tarif's are part of it but this was going on before those.

Here’s a cleaner rewrite that keeps your tone but reads smoother:

this time around i haven’t been to impressed, can’t really tell the difference between this administration versus the previous Biden administration , nothing has really changed in my life,

Geez the guy has only been in office for a year and has spent most of the time cleaning up the previous administrations mess, if things dont look better this time next year then we all can start complaining, i foer one think we have to clean up the mess first.

I tend to agree. We are still dealing with fallout from a horrendous handling of Covid by the previous administration, who used it as an excuse to fleece the "wealthy" (read: working class), in an effort to further imbed a more socialist economic model (paying people to not work is never a good thing). The other issue is that we HAVE to deal with China and the trade war we've been losing to them for decades. You don't leave a bad tooth in your mouth because it's gonna hurt taking it out. Nobody said it was going to be painless. I'm in the same sitch as Dan.... 2-1/2 years ago, I paid cash for my new-to-me truck. This year, I'm not really even paying myself. But I'm keeping my nose above water and hopeful the proven economic measures will sort things out for the better.
Thanks. Brad.
