Red face 36 With 1460 hp Chief turbo

Hello guys, i am located in Stockholm Sweden. I bougt a N-T 36` 3 year ago with Mrd 850 it run about 130 mph with 6# drives and Herring 5 blade 17x33`. Now i bought 2 new Engines from Chief that will be deliverd to Stockholm in February. These are 557 cui Twin turbos with all the latest in motor technology they tell me. In the dyno with 18,5 psi they put out 1461 hp on 93 pump gas and the rew limiter kicks in at 7000 rpm i think. Du you think the boat can handel that Power and how careful must i be with it ? I am boating in the Stockholm archipellago so it is not so rough seas..more like your lakes i think. So i was wondering about props ?, they tell me that 17x38 will be the best for me. I am the only 36 in Sweden that i knew of and there is only 1 more NT here a 50` with T- 53 turbines so if you experienced guys hawe som thoughts about this i be more than happy. / ps sorry for the bad Spelling i hope you understand :-).

Your putting a lot of power in that hull. Be care full it may be a bit to much for it. I assume it's a Nortech cat. Can you post some pictures of her. Have fun ! and welcome aboard.

Thank You for that..and yes itīs a Nortech. My goal was at least 1200 hp but one thing led to Another an i gess the Chief also wanted to show off a bit of what he can do. Becuse here in Sweden it is Mercruiser land and people in general seemīs to Think Mercsīs are the only ones ower 1100īs. I Think almost every wheicle i ewer owned has ben a Little ower powered but as you say this may be on the edge. But the Shief alo put in a 1190 hp map to start with an that just might be enough. I Wold like to post some pics of the engins and boat.if i only can figure out how to do it somehow.

The white/blue 36 Nortech "loose Cannon" pictured in top right rotating images of this site last had 1350 cobra power in it. It reached 170mph at least once, saw the GPS screenshot from someone onboard. It since has a new owner, but no idea where it ended up.

I know the guys at Nortech did most of the rigging each time, so they would have any setup info your looking for on that amount of power. It also ran152mph at lotto in 2007 with the 1200hp engines. I couldn't find the best video of that run on youtube, but check this video link at 3:20 for a short clip from that run to see how they look at 150...

Your 36 with 1400hp should equal a very very fast boat....

Thank you for that . I hawe ben looking a lot to "The Loose Cannon" and i Think it Went to Australia. A Buddy of mine are going to help me post to some pics tomorrow i hope.
But if if someone want to look at my boat here in the Sweden Archipellago with the old Engines. I hawe 4 clips on you tube " Powerboat Stockholm" by kjell. That is pretty fast also compared to the other boats around here. But i Think the turbine cat "The Man Of Steele" Outherlimits 50 i think ? is going to be here next summer. We are going to race 12 boats up in a lake North of Stockholm in juni. It is called "Speedball Archipellago Race Jungfrusund" and it is 3 laps around a short track in calm Waters, it is also awalible on youtube. A nother guy i knew have the old Budweisser MTI 44, but this Winter he changed the old turbines for Sterling 1200:s. That + maybe "Miss Turbine" a Nortech 50 cat with 1350 hp turbines and 1 or 2, 32ī Skaters with 750 and maybe a 1000 hp one is the competition. That is pretty much all of the fastest boats in Sweden ( as i knew of ) so we will se what happens . And maybe a Nortech 44 with 4x700:s from Norway vill come ower to participate also. And then we hawe a few fast V hulls like a 38 Fountain that is god for about 120 mph.

That is a pretty crazy ewent with the fastest boats around here. But not many of us got so much boat racing experience, just a lot of adrenaline.
I hawent figure it out yet if i'm going to go for it or just take it easy in the middle .

Thank you :-)..yeah that guy seems to know what he's doing. A lot of gismos in them engines that i don't understand. And when they tested them in the dyno with 19,9 psi boost i saw a peak of 1722 hp !!.

Hey
yes "Loose Cannon" went to Australia, and is very popular down here, people just love it.
since i got it back here i have been going through everything just checking and have only found the methanol system needed replacing and im still working on getting trailer registered
it is a fantastic boat and a credit to Nortech and "Joe" for the job they have done on it
its power now is at 1200 with Meth injection while i get used to it
it was at 1350 and been told she will run 180+ with rpm at 7600
props are Herring 17-38-18 turning out with cupping removed if that helps you Kjell, the cannon is from what i have seen on OSO in the last 12mths the closest to what you have
if you want the exact numbers off the props just let me know
