Boat is over at Doug`s.
I would prefer water would seperate from the oil so I could see if water is getting in , in the future.
Dave what do you use in 6`s ?
Doug says Torco or Mercruiser Extreme.

HP runs Schaffer. Pretty convincing documentation. Call him and try to tell him different, you will get the details.

They will just say its not for Marine use...been down that road with them on my old scarab TRS combo's. I will say this though....even when the redline was compromised in my TRS drive it still lasted an entire weekend until we got the boat home.
Ive told this story before in the past but we were heading down to LOTO for the 4th of July for the very first time ever. I blew up one of my drives the weekend before and was determined to go one way or another. This was in the Internets infancy so there wasn't Google around to search who had parts. After a few calls i found Mindy at Dollar and she had a set of lower gears in stock. Had then shipped and got them on Thursday afternoon. (we were leaving Friday morning!) with no manuals or proper tools i rigged a few things to get the drive apart and slapped the gears in there. Filled it up with Redline and off we went...lasted the entire weekend and when we got home i shipped both drives down to BAM. He got them and said the gears were all looked fine but it looked like Pepto Bismol in there!
Sorry if it got off track...back to the Bad Kitty Program

That`s a good story!
Also good to know about Redline. Hopefuly the dry sump pump and filter were still moving some of that goo.

Update:
The upper gears look brand new, (previous owner switched ratios and only ran it a couple times so that make sense)
Lower gears were switch to run on opposite face of gear.
New/used take out propshaft, ( it was pitted bad)seals, gaskets, labor etc .. less than $3500

I might as well have him go thru the the other one.
Sometimes things happen for a reason. Now they should be good to go for a while.
