Gibson Power Curve Mufflers
#1
Has any one tried the Gibson Power Curve Mufflers 4" x 8" drop on their 35 Flame? I don't know if there is enough clearance to install these?
Thanks,
Dean

Anyone?
Sounds like these will be REQUIRED if you boat @ LOTO!
I'm going to try to call Lonnie today and ask him about them?
What does all the other 35 Flame owners use for mufflers?
Thx,
Dean

Hey Dean,
I use the Gibson Bullets. They have a great sound to them and look nice. I'm not sure how the curves would look and clearing all the hardware (steering, tie bar and such) may be interesting. With the 496HOs the mufflers just clear the steering rams and it has to be perfectly straight to trailer trim the drives.
My buddy has the 500EFIs in his Flame with the Bullets and his exhaust sits substantially higher and clears everything easily. He's still loud but he was obnoxiously loud prior to the mufflers. Don't get me wrong, I'm "obviously" all for the great sound of hp but he was very, very loud
You can see a before and after pic here of my install.

For what it's worth, I went with CMI switchables (aft firing
sound choice with extension #13110). They are 9" long, and bulge out to 5" diameter but reduce back down to 4" right
at the outlet (engines are 575SCi's). These are clamp on
external mufflers (and they do have a hole for a through bolt
that I used to "back-up" the clamp).
They were real helpful in that they sent me the engineering
drawings so I could exactly check the fit before I bought them.
They just clear everything, in any steer or trim position.

Want to know how loud the CMI's are with 575SCi's?
I launched at the dreaded Havasu Marina and tested
by them at 78dB!!!!!!
Anyone who's heard my boat knows that is incredible.
By the way, that Marina is why my boat is the worlds
only 30 Flame. I swear it. That's what the decals on
the side say.

I talked to Lonnie the other day and he said, that it would be better if I went with the IMCO gattlin mufflers. Does any use these on their Flames?
