That is really good. Can you share with us some details on the boat setup? Running conditions? etc. I thought I had around 800 HP, but I'm only getting mid 80's. Could just be where the boat is run. I'm at 700' elevation, 100+ temps, 90+ water temp, high humidity and smooth water. What were his conditions? Is his a closed bow? Prop and RPM?? It's great to be able to compare setups.

EW,
Those are great numbers, indicating a very efficent setup. Tell your buddy to give us his specs (prop type and pitch, gear ratio, gearcase style, conditions/temp/altitude/load, etc).
We are happy to give him our information, but it sounds like he doesn't need it .........
Regards,
Steve

I HAVE A 1992 28 WITH 775 HP WITH NITROS. 89 MPH.

He started with a 502 Mag, needless to say it doesn't resemble that anymore. I appologize for being vauge. The setup changed multiple times and I lost track of exactly what he ended up with. I'll get more exact info later, but here is what I know.

Procharger 7 lbs. Boost
CompCam .637/.637 (I think, I don't know the model no)
Bigger Fuel Injectors (I don't know what size though)
Replaced the stock ECU with "Big Stuff" ECU
Lightning Headers
IMCO Extreme outdrive 1.50
Bravo 1 28"P (STOCK)

He got those numbers two days ago running on Gunn Lake, MI (near Grand Rapids) It's been in the mid to upper 70's, but the air is quite cool. (Good conditions from that standpoint) The water was pretty much flat.

I seem to have more prop slip than others. Maybe because I have an open bow or even the ITS box may be affecting it. I'm spinning a stock 30" Bravo at 5600 & 85 MPH. The RPM is measured with a laptop from the ECU, so it's accurate and the speed is GPS. I spin the 29 P5X about 200 RPM less at about 1 MPH less. So, doing a little deductive reasoning I would have to spin a 28 Bravo to about 6300 to get 90.

Hey NordicFlame...what were your numbers with the Heat at 90? I don't remember what prop & rpm you were running.

Just thought of one possible explanation. I am always running on glass water. The fact I'm getting the RPM would indicate the HP is there, but I'm experiencing a lot of hull drag causing the slip to increase. Hmmmm. Maybe I need some prop work to get a little more lift. I need to call Julie...LOL

Bob,
If my memory serves me correctly, I had a 29 P5-X spinning 5600. This was on wind blown chop at Lake Mead.
We tried a stock 32 on Jasons boat (Heat) yesterday at the local lake which is at 4950 feet and he was only able to spin it 5300 and got 87.9. That's a ton of slip and he's down a bit on hp at that rpm.
I am very anxious to have him run that prop at Mead and see how it does at 5700+ rpm. I think when he does that the hull may air out quite a bit more and get him well into the upper 90's. Then again, his runs with the stock 30 may still produce the best speeds at 95.5 and climbing at near 6000 rpm. He's making some pretty big hp at that rpm.
