I was able to cut down on kiting off swells, but maintain enough trim angle to run well, correct load imbalaces, lower the nose on plane off, reduce driving input to keep the boat on the pad (reduce chine walking). I also really like the cable driven trim and tab indicator, easy to visualize, monitor and adjust. No doubt, the "pecker" Stainless Marine versions would have been even better, because you wouldn't have to look down at the dash, they would be in line of sight. They were on every race boat I saw.
For installation, I recommend:
1 mounting as close to the chines as possible
2 parallel to the hull angle
3 I (you make your call) mounted mine 1/2" above the vee angle. I was trying to make a "step" of sorts with the tabs.
What the factory probably was talking about was interference with the engine compartment floor boards. Just make sure you're not drilling into any lines or wires inside the transom.

Steve

What is "the cable driven trim and tab indicator" to which you refer? I have the Bennett LED tab position bar display.

Re: Trim Tab Installation Angle for Rage
Bill,
I don't have the invoice in front of me, so this just an estimate,
$350ish??
I already had a 1 slot cable actuated indicator for my XR, so I added:
actuators for the tabs, through hulls, 2 cables, new 3 slot Livorsi dash gauge.
You could do a 2 slot for your tabs only, or a 3 slot to include your drive.
Installation takes some time and patience, but it's worth it IMHO.
I recommend Fred @ TM,

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Trim Tab Installation Angle for Rage
Well the tabs are on and work great. The wife is very happy with the smoother ride in rough water and better yet I can now cruse a lot faster in the rough with the wife. Everyone wins. I can not believe that I did with out before.

Rage,
Glad your project worked out. Tabs are very useful on these boats. I can't imagine running mine without them either.
Got any pics?

Steve

Re: Trim Tab Installation Angle for Rage
I just saw some really cool new indicators from Livorsi.
Improvements over mine are the indicator tips (hi vis red on mine) are now LEDs, and they are also spring loaded to reduce cable slack and read more accurately.
