Southocg,

What do you think it would run for speed with the 600?
I would guess about 5 or 6 mph slower than you do... the 08 is a lighter boat than the 07

Maybe i look at the Glass half full. I bet the new boat will run 80 on GPS. (With the Merc Racing 525)

Tim,

Ha ha ..... But you are supposed to say that..... right?

I sure appreciate all your help and patience with the build of my boat project. You guys are awsome there at OCM!!

I will give you a call Monday morning about the 600sci. It is a definate GO, on my end. We will just have to see if we can make the numbers work.

Thanks again,

Chris

15 hp per 1 mph.... 5-7ish sounds about right.

The 08's are lighter but the merc motor package is heavier.
Now an 08 with an ILMOR package, your looking at a weight savings of roughly 700 pounds (450 hull, 250 motor)....

If I had it to do over again... I'd throw in more power.
It just never really seems to be enough... If you want to run over for the CDA Perf. Boat Regatta, I give you a ride and let you see how the boat rides/handles with the IMCO drive and ILMOR Power is you'd like.

Thanks southocg,

Unfortunately I wiil have to pass on that one, other time constraints.

My boat will have an IMCO SC drive on it regardless of what power I go with, as I am supplying the drive unit.

What is your best speed to date?

Chris

IMCO SC on mine as well...

88.5 GPS....

The PB write up showed the boat at 89.9

Possibly the reduction in speed because of your elevation?

I have noticed that my boats are typically 2-3 mph faster here in Seattle, at sea level and cool air, than when I take them to Havasu to visit family.

CB-BLR,

Have you looked into the Raylar 550? It's a small block and considerably lighter than the Merc's, and I think cheaper. I really think it'd be a great application in a single 28. The weight savings could result in performance similar to the 600sc, but at lower cost.:drink:

Of course, it's easy for me to speculate with your money.:party-smiley-004:

I do hope someone puts one of these in a Heat, AT, Pantera 28 though to see how it runs.:evilb:

Keep in mind insurance will be more and harder to get once you go past the 525.

Hadn't thought about that. I will have to call my insurance guy, and get a quote both ways.

Chris
