Hadn't thought about that. I will have to call my insurance guy, and get a quote both ways.
Chris Try and run it through your home owners. It's always seemed to work better for me that way. |

Try to stay away from "boat specific" insurance.

I got a quote through State Farm, (they insure both my homes, all three vehicles, and my current boat), and they gave me a quote of $538.00/year for the boat with the 600 motor.

This is a very common problem and one State Farm is somewhat (un)popular for. More than likely, if you can't run it thru the Progressive online quote, State Farm won't write it when it comes time. I found this just in time when I was looking at deck boats over the winter. Just a freindly warning... Hopefully they write it because that would be a very nice package!! Dave |
The underwriter wanted $582.00 a year for the 600 motor and it was solely on the value of the boat. It is still considered a pleasure boat instead of a performance boat because of the open bow. The insurance information was faxed to the bank today along with the paperwork we signed down at OCM. Looks like it is a done deal.
Special thanks to Tim at Oregon Custom Marine for making my "dream boat" come true. Tim...................You Rock!! :ernaehrung004: Chris |
Chris,
Congratulations. You've bought a great boat, and I think I need your insurance agent's phone #. Just Kidding, but that is a terrific quote. I'm paying $725 for a 575 hard deck Heat. Welcome to the Nordic Navy:drink:.............. Regards, Steve |
I was paying around $900 on my 28 with the stock 496. State Farm quoted $1000. Must be the location where you boat. You have a pretty short season up there.

I thought I was getting a smoking deal @ $800.00 a year with the 710...... Holy Schiat.
|
Maybe it is because I insure through them:
Two homes One condo Three cars Two quads four motorcycles two jetski's all my buisness equipment and my boat. Besides which, I have been with the same agency for the last 15 years, and have only had a couple of auto claims. I dunno..... but it works for me :ernaehrung004: Chris p.s. Cant wait to get that thing on the water !! |
Progressive Insurance policies:
"Maximum horsepower is 1000 for twin engines and 500 for a single engine. If more than one engine add the horsepower of all engines to determine total horsepower." I was also asked if "Engine/outdrive modified to enhance performance? "Answer 'yes' if your watercraft has any engine or outdrive components installed to enhance performance beyond hull and/or engine manufacturer stock configurations (i.e. blowers, superchargers, performance outdrives, performance props, etc.) " I plugged in my boat "Nordic Rage" and was informed that "Horsepower cannot exceed 425 on this model." Lucky that State Farm is available. |
