Hi,
i have a 2000 heat and got a whipple charger for it a couple months ago but haven't installed it yet.
currently, i have the bennet trim tabs but never use them. w/ the stock 502 i see 65 mph on the GPS. w/ a whipple i figure i'll be mid to upper 70's.
for those of you that run in the mid-upper 70s do you see any reason to install a set of kplane 280s tabs over the bennets?
any advice would be appreciated.
thanks!
Ned

Trim tabs are more for water conditions, and like if you have alot of people on one side of the boat, speed is not really a factor, some fishing boats have them, and hell they dont even go but like 25-30. as for the bennetts they are ok, K-planes are much better. sure would be nice if someone would make an improvment for the bennetts....

I used to own a 2000 28 Heat as well......couldn't believe it didn't have tabs or k planes when I bought it....was going to be the first thing I did to it. After running it at LOTO it performed very well without them and I ran the boat three years before selling it and never had a need for them.........

The Bennett tabs are fine for the speeds you'll be running. The problem I have with them is where the factory insists on mounting them. They always seem to be mounted close to the drive. They should be closer to the chines for maximum effect and minimal drag.
It's a lot of (glass) work to move them out. I would run the boat with your new engine setup before making any changes.
Here's the before and after on mine.

Steve

thanks everyone for your input.
i know a couple guys w/ smaller boats (24 cs fountain and the 25' rage) for higher speeds (75-85) they were MUCH more stable w/ longer tabs. that was my concern here. sounds like in my situation though, what i have will be more than adequate.
