600sci - Whipple Stage X
#13
I have not pushed the boat past 5000 rpm yet (86 mph) because it handles very strangely with all the weight removed from the rear of the boat (seat, hatch) and all my extra stuff in the nose.
Also... the motor is running too cold (72 deg) which is not allowing the computer to switch out from cold start mode.
I will be working on it tommorow.

The large (1") line is the output water from the innercooler... which I routed to the right rear of the boat...so I can see it flowing while driving.

Surprised they recommended the 13 plate cooler. Way! to much cooler! You need the 8 plate cooler and that might be too much.
The oil needs to get hot to burn off the moisture and fuel dillution. Currently having the same problem but I still run a tube style cooler but run a two stage pump which has more flow and keeps my oil kinda cool 155 degrees. Ideal temp for me would be 180degrees at WOT for several miles.
This upgrade might not be the best bang for the buck as you might as well start from scratch i.e... sell the HP600 and put in a nice BBC wet sump or dry sump with a 8.3 and call it a day.
Single engine V-Bottom hitting 110MPH plus is gonna be different keeping that boat balanced on the pad is not for the faint of heart. I know I have been there at 116MPH and again at 122MPH in V-Bottom.
Let us know what happens Chris you definitely have the sickness...laughing.
Talk to you soon.

KAP...
My oil temps are right at 190... which interestingly enough is right where the oil thermostat is set
Did some changes in water routing, and got water temp up to 85 deg. Dustin and Eddie say 100-105 deg is the magic number to make everything happy.
Guess I am gonna try a thermostat and bypass hose with three 3/16 holes in the side of the thermostat next. Water pressure is 15-17 lbs at 80... which is as fast as I took it today.
The engine has yet to get the water warm enough to let it idle down... which makes docking a bugger.
Hope you are doing well,
Chris
P.S. Have you gotten your IMCO shortie yet?
