There used to be the natl sweepstakes regatta in red bank for years. Hydros up to 7 litre, flat bottom's and the js skiffs. No more! The jersey skiffs were always my favorites and usually the last class to race on sunday afternoon of the 2 day event. If you google jersey speed skiff you can find a good link to the history of the boats in this area. Aparently they used to all meet in long branch and parade through the shrewsbury river and up the navesink to the races . Before my time. Must have been a sight back in the day. Here is my old busted skiff from back in the day when I lost my mind for a moment.

No more races in the area. Red Bank doesn't want them anymore and everyone showed up just to watch the skiffs.

There is going to be a "rally" late Aug or Sept run out of the Long Branch Ice Boat Club. I hear that JS's from all over the country will be showing up. I'll get the dates tonight.

Still the lift queen but at least I'm boatin'........

Thanks for shooting the pics. Send whatcha got of JS-12 to [email protected] The boat is direct drive, you would think at least a crash box. Gotta make sure that you're pointed in the right direction when you start

The JS-11 boat is a piece of art. The entire deck is varnished mahagony. Has to be one of the prettiest boats boats I have ever seen.

After you left a few more boats showed up but the cops had pretty much shut us down by then. When the shift change came at 4:00 we were able to play a little more.

The skifs were awesome to watch, when I was young I could hear them from my house when we lived in Middletown. The Hydro's had a nice rooster tail but the skifs were the most fun cause they looked like they were running an offshore race with the bobbing up and down and side to side.

Yes, Joey's run is on Sunday. Supposed to be huge this year, 65th b-day.

I got boarded by the Coast Guard yesterday. They called it a courtesy safety inspection . I think they just wanted an excuse to check out the boat. It the first time they could even get close to it. I don't think they thought they were gonna find anthing seein how I was anchored right off thier Sandy Hook Base. Nice bunch of guys, I don't know how they can work in those vests and drivin in that sardine can.

One of my "contacts" just called me and said they saw the Chip idleing down the river. Must be going for a river ride cause the ocean is flat!
