Getting Ready To Do The Battleship!
Countdown To The Battleship Run
Hello ROPA boaters,
T-Minus 11 days and counting to the Seneca Lake Battleship Run. As it stands right now, we have over 50 boats signed up and it appears that all systems are GO!!!!
We know most of you look to this run with great anticipation. This year we have a few additions and changes to hopefully add to the festive weekend.
On Friday evening we have arranged to have Nashville recording artist
Ciara Lynn and her acoustic trio play for us to kick off the weekend. We have also arranged for the Showboat to stay open late for burgers, sandwiches and such so late arrivals need not go hungry!
The “RUN” itself will proceed as it usually has except for the fact that once we dock at Watkins Glenn you will not be pressured to choke down lunch and get back to the Showboat at any set time. You can take your time to eat lunch where you will, take a stroll down the picturesque main street, do a little shopping, or whatever! Just be back at the Showboat by 5:30 pm for the famous BBQ dinner buffet! We will award the place and raffle prizes at the tail end of dinner. After that you will have the rest of the evening to party, sit and shoot the bull by the campfire, or dance the night away!
We must also take this opportunity to urge, implore, and even demand that your boat and equipment meet or exceed US Coast Guard and NYS Parks & Rec. Marine Division standards. (i.e., proper registration, pdfs, fire extinguishers, etc.) Those who have big, loud power will want to use your “captain’s call” or other such sound deadening devices to keep noise at a minimum. Remember, boats producing 90db or louder at idle are considered illegal. While we are on the subject of illegal, you cannot consume any alcoholic beverages until you get back to the Showboat after the Run, no exceptions!
We would also strongly suggest that your boat be equipped with a VHF radio. Communication is key to a safe and fun day on the water, especially during this type of event.
We have always maintained a cordial relationship with local law enforcement and we would like to keep it that way.
So….. Make those last minute repairs, Get out the wax and make that gel coat sparkle, and make preparations for a great weekend. We’ll see you at Seneca!
The Committee.

To pay the exorbitant rate for insurance would mean that ROPA would have to seriously lessen it's cash and prize table payout back to participants. Last year there was about $3000 cash and $2000 prize table given out! This club doesn't want to go that approach at this time for the few who want the radar, although we all enjoy it.
