In a word, brutal.

Oh Deere 03-03-2009 08:02 PM

I have been running with GGB's on 700 HP for a few years and have not had any issues yet. Had them on 496 with headers prior to that. However, who knows this year. You definitely need some sort of mufflers though.

jarhead0341 03-04-2009 10:50 AM

mp checked me in wolfboro last summer 2 decb. over oh well but the best part was the guy says in all seriousness '' IM SURE ONCE YOU OPEN IT UP IT QUIETS DOWN SOME"

Jupiter Sunsation 03-04-2009 06:26 PM

I have read a couple articles about the speed limit and saw some powerboaters voice their opinions. One guy had a yellow 42 Fountain and they seem to quote him as the fastest/biggest on the lake.

What is the biggest/fastest boat on that lake? Anybody running 2,000 HP or more?

PPSB 03-04-2009 07:37 PM

There are a couple of Nortechs and Outerlimits that are running 1075's and up.

No worries.. I hope to see you guys down in the bay soon.. Maybe Mike can set up a run in May.

I was at newfound lake down the road a friend has a house on the water they told me there was a speed limit on all lakes but winni 2 years ago of 45 or 50??? so I didn't bring mine up.

Oh Deere 03-06-2009 12:03 PM

As for speed limits on other lakes in NH, I believe that Squam is the only other one.

If any of you guys in the area are looking for any upholstery repairs or updates, please let me know. I'm currently working on several boats with the latest in carbon fiber and fo-suade, and leather. There are some great products out there that can bring a fresh look to older boats, or new ones for that matter.

May have to take a look at our little powerplay!

The fastest boat on the lake last year was probably a 51 gtx ol with 1200's followed by a 36 Nortec.

amazing1 03-17-2009 07:17 PM

if there is no speed limit on the other lakes.:ernaehrung004: maybe we should go to lake winnisquam and run all the large boats there.:evilb:

502ss 03-18-2009 03:20 PM

Must really suck to own a place on the lake, own an OL or Nortec and barely get to bring it on plane! At least the boats look as good sitting still as they do running speed! God damn tree huggers and canoe lovers! :angry-smiley-038:

502ss 03-18-2009 03:46 PM

Are there any lawyers on this board? I would think this would be something you could sue the state over. 45MPH on a lake that size, come on!

Look at this:

http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/...splay.php?f=19

Close to 100 threads and the arguments that went into it....

The attorneys will be involved when people start getting cited. Instead of just a fine, it actually is attached like a normal ticket to your MVR!! How many people are going to be fighting those and burning more taxpayers dollars? :angry-smiley-038::mad::angry-smiley-038:

WOW, I didnt think it was that involved, I guess I just don't undertstand it. The way I see it is you have two major issues, Drunk driving and the kayak and canoe people!

1. Drunk Drivers: How is this any different then drunk drivers on the road? If the fix was to reduce the speed limit everytime some gets killed in a drunk driving accident by car then we would all be walking! How come they think that will solve anything? A 10,000lb boat traveling 45MPH will do as much damage to a boat half it's size as it would traveling 60MPH

2. The Kayak and canoe people: Do they really belong in the middle of the lake in a craft that size anyway? If a kayak is 2-3 miles offshore in the ocean and they get swamped by a fishing vessel do you think they are going to enforce a speed limit, my guess is they would say "do you really belong in a craft that small that far offshore?"

I am sure these things have all been discussed earlier in this thread but it just boggles my mind! I have lived in NH my whole life and I would have to say this is embarrasing. I knew there was a reason I always boat on Sebago!(though that lake may not be safe too much longer either  )

How is Sebago looking? I bet you still have major snow!

It's been a long winter!

Audiofn 04-12-2009 08:10 PM

Sabego is mostly out. Some stuff in the bays from were the wind blows into but last time past Jordan Bay on Thursday there was only about 200 yards of ice at the 302 end becuase the wind was blowing it up that way. Brandy and Long lake are still looking like big slush puppies. Still piles of snow were the plow puts it but most of the snow is gone!!!! BRING ON THE WARM!!!!!

502ss 04-12-2009 08:40 PM

Summer!
Summer!
Summer!
Summer!

Jon, thanks for the info on Brandy

Biggus 04-13-2009 06:23 AM

Sebago Lake is ice free. Brandy Pond went out yesterday. It was very windy Saturday Night and mostly Sunday. The ice broke up and travelled down the river in huge ice bergs. I would not be surprised if a few docks got destroyed.

Long lake should be out within a few days.

Kurt

When's the first trip in the Cig?

Hey what ever happened to all those nice boats that were lost last fall in that fire, Did they ever determine the cause?

techman 04-21-2009 03:33 PM

Maybe it is just me, but I don't ever plan on splashing into that lake ever again (winni). As soon as they passed that speed limit law I said good bye and good luck. And I rarely, if ever, went much faster than that prior to the limit being imposed.

Head to Sebago while you can still boat freely using your own adult judgement and good boating sense.

ktron 04-21-2009 03:37 PM

I was up there this weekend and there was a few boats out. It was beautiful out on Sunday. Can't wait to get the boat in the water!

slboatdrinks 04-21-2009 05:35 PM

Without us up there this summer with the way the economy is, the businesses that voted for the speed limit might be thinking twice about how stupid their decision really is.

My boat will not be up there again.

techman 04-21-2009 05:46 PM

Swarming the place with go-fasts is the last thing we should do. Make it a ghost town as far as I am concerned. The dumb laws and the dismal economy will speak volumes. Those of us fortunate to be able to participate in this high dollar hobby were just asked to turn around at the NH border and stay out. Message received, loud and clear!

Head East....Maine...the way life and boating should be.

newfountainguy 04-21-2009 08:12 PM

WOW, i heard the rumors, but i guess i never followed up on this speed limit thing. Growing up spending my summers at my families house in wolfboro watching the go fast boats go by. Now that i'm 30 and own my own boat, planned on heading up there on the 4th of july to spent some time with my grandparents and the rest of the family. was planning on bringing the fountain with me but now i think i'll leave it at home. What a F**king joke.

Biggus 04-22-2009 06:48 AM

Pretty sad. We've been boating on Winni for years. We would spend a couple three day weekends there, stay at the NASWA, eat at the waterfront restaurants etc.

Why bother, they don't want us there.

How this happened I have no idea. It will be interesting to see if they even enforce it. The MP budget was cut in half!:Whatever:

It happened because people are ignorant and don't bother looking at the actual facts.

People tend to follow, not lead and if you have even just a handful of people with the right connections and money, you can make anything happen.

It's never about what's fair or right anymore.

They will be hurting up there this year, I guarantee it.

cowisl 04-22-2009 08:53 AM

I will be there speed limit or not...

ktron 04-22-2009 11:35 AM

They are only going to be critical of the areas that are high congestion and high traffic. The speed limit is also only for 2 years (summers) as well. I am not going to let the people that voted it in keep me off the lake. They can go $hi* in their hat! I aint leavin! Been boating there for more than 25 years and I am staying!

jarhead0341 04-22-2009 04:18 PM

went in last weekend friday aft. and sunday .......great days. they wont push me off the lake or slow me down! i speed on highways why would it be different in a boat. and yes i have broke the limit :evilb:

I never ever post here but I am really disappointed with winnipesaukee.com Just when a "real" discussion starts taking place, thanks to OCDACTIVE, certain individuals step in and whine about things and it gets shut down. I am beyond disappointed. THEY do not want to hear anything about negative impacts regarding the speed limit, all they want to hear is how wonderful everything is going to be in the new paradise with the speed limit. BS, all the moron day trippers towing their kids through channels will still be there. The economy coupled with all the performance boats leaving will be devastating to the area and THEY DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT. SUCKS! SUCKS! SUCKS!

Chris,

There's plenty of other places to go without being hassled by the man. I can't stand looking over my shoulder every 2 seconds to see if the MP's are around.

Last year did for me when I was pulled over again while idling in a channel while having engine problems.
