Winnepesaukee

I started my boating life in a twelve footer on Lake Winnepesaukee in 1964 or so. Since then, I've been away from boating a total of ten years. I love it, I connect with it. While I've never been involved in the offshore style of boats, I've seen it grow from the old days.

That forum sucks. They moderate almost everyone so posts come up in odd duck orders. I guess that they feel that is the only way to do it because of past events but seriously. What is the point.

Jon

VtSteve 05-05-2008 07:58 AM

Only because it's the major forum for that debate is all. It's definitely not for the format or comraderie :D

I agree 100% - I tried to get into that forum and "debate" with those wennies but my posts would get posted a day or two after I submitted them, and loose all relevance. Don is a clown and runs that forum like a prison warden! TOOL! :angry-smiley-038:

Whether the site sucks or not is of no importance to me. Obviously it's not the caliber that this one is. I've not had an issue there at all. :angry-smiley-038:

The best way to find the root of a problem is to listen to all sides. It's taken two years plus to find the core issues. It didn't take me that long at all, that's what I do.

When people have the ability and the support to enact legislation that can impact your favorite things in a negative manner, it makes sense to find out what the fuss is all about. In a nutshell,

1) It's not really about speed, as I guessed.
2) Noise (you've heard this one before I suspect)
3) Reckless behavior
4) Disrespect for the lake, it's residents, and boating.

That's what "Some" in the GF community have left as an impression on those folks. What percentage it is, I have no idea, probably the same few all the time.

If I could keep my lake from having a ridiculous speed limit by eliminating the real bozos that are screwing it up, I'd make sure I did it. It's easy to be contentious online, and it typically is. But go fats boaters have families like everyone else, and most take pride in their boats, not to mention the investments made. I'd wager a guess than most on this forum have far more boating expertise and common sense than the majority of recreational boaters.

I'd not frequent a lake that has the types of restrictions Lake George has on it now, and I suspect they have those limits for the very same reasons Winni is looking into it. If we're all lucky, the law will not pass, and better solutions will prevail.

That is exactly what they are hoping for. There is a handful of dicks that are making a lot of noise about go fast boats and how danerous they are. They want to turn back time to the 50's

Bear Islander truly needs a smack up side the head to bring him to reality

That maybe true but, these PC liberals don't seem to understand how much money is infused into the area because of the GF boat owners. If they push some idiotic nonsense like this thru what is the down side. GF goes somewhere else and is replaced by a happier kayaker or migrant water fowl and overall how much will the local populous make from that?
ZIP.

Yeah but here you can speak your mind (for the most part).
Just like the whiner Evenstar the kayaker , she's scared because fast boats come to close to her. She should grow a pair and go paddle. Close only counts in horse shoes and hand granades.

I was a little harsh earlier with my comment. I had just come from over there and it just boggles my mind when I read some of the stuff that is up there. Not the owners fault I guess as he does not write much if any of the stuff on there. I try and stay away because it is like talking to a brick wall. The same people are for the same against. The same arguments being stated over and over and over again. That is more of were my "sucks" comment came from.

The posts all being moderated is bothersome. I have spent time to write replies in other areas from the boating part and the posts never show up. I mean stuff like trying to help a guy with a well pump issue. He I think does that more to keep the board from being FLOODED with replies and clogging his servers. I can understand but it is odd that some get moderated and others do not. I have never done anything to deserve to be moderated over there but I am getting moderated....... :(

DoTheMath 05-08-2008 09:45 AM

And that's why it sux Jon... He may not write any of the content but he moderates the heck out of a good majority of it - with some never getting put up - thus generating a bias or skewed view in one direction or another. Basically - it's the "my sandbox - my rules, you don't like 'em - go find another sandbox" stance...

If that's the way you want to play, that's cool - but it shreds any factual info that gets put up as having no merit - to me anyway...

Audiofn 05-08-2008 10:53 AM

Hey I was able to get Donki Dick put in there :D:D

VtSteve 05-16-2008 05:33 AM

Well the GD bill passed the Senate in NH 14-10. Now on to the Gov.

jarhead0341 05-16-2008 05:36 AM

hopefully he has more common sense than the rest of the donkeys , sorry elected oficials

VtSteve 05-16-2008 07:54 AM

If they couldn't enforce the 150' distance rule, not to mention the NWZ's, how the heck can they enforce a speed limit? The MP already stated the problems inherent with using radar out on the water.

:Whatever:

DoTheMath 05-16-2008 09:30 AM

It's a dark day when the elected officials can be snowed by a bunch of tree-huggers with no facts to substantiate their position. :Whatever:

Time to come to Maine.
Currently your still allowed to go fast here on the big lakes.
But who knows if some upset kayakers or, a group of pissed off
ducks will file a petition or some such nonsense.

That's good news to those that pushed for the speed limits. Pretty much what they all wanted anyway. It was pretty obvious after the I Told You So's came out after the accident June 15th.

DoTheMath 07-01-2008 12:26 PM

We should be up Thursday morning thru. Sunday night... Weather right now looking so-so.

The speed limit on Winni doesn't take effect until January 1st. The water will most likely be a little hard then. It sunsets in 2 years.

The bikini contest is at the Naswa. http://www.waaf.com/pages/270506.php

502ss 08-20-2008 08:42 AM
