What boat do you have?

It all depends on the weather!!! Sometimes it's flat as glass..you could go out there in a 15 foot Whaler...othertimes I would not touch it in less than a 25 footer. Just my 2 cents.

Sometimes I wouldn't touch it at all!!! A good time at Claudios can turn bad real fast. Storms sneak up quickly, the wind can slowely pick-up, add a fast moving tide and your in for trouble. Always check the weather forcast and watch the sky......and don't drink to much:food-smiley-009:

i have a 18' bow rider 190 horse
ive been out to claudios once in a 26' cuddy, it was awhile ago and cant remember how long or how far Claudios is, but im pretty sure my bowrider would be to small for that trip.
ive been from Hartford down to essex twice couldnt explore farther was running out of time, but did notice the water is rough down there.
thought id get some info from you guys that do it

It all depends on the conditions, some days it's flat as a pancake, others , it's silly nasty. Just gotta check the conditions and the forcast.

P.S. Even if it's nice, it can get nasty real quick, gotta keep an eye on things!

And we have not even metioned "The Gut" ....that's a beast in itself!!!

wunderground.com makes a pretty accurate marine forecast...check and go...but know your limits, plum gut can and does get nasty...check the tides, seas, wind, boat traffic...etc.

Mike, what you doin tomorrow? We'll be launching in Saybrook tomorrow. Not sure where were going to go yet. Went to Claudios today and it wasnt that busy at all due to the wind and it being pretty rough all over the place!!!

claudios mon morn 10 am approx at old saybrook

I used to run my Donzi Z-21 over great when flat but if the wind is right it made for one wet and paidful ride back.

I was going to go to Claudios also, but we decided to go up river instead....little warmer!

Weather was fantastic. Sound was calm as could be and place was jammin. Doing it again Sat. Leaving Chester around 10am. Hopefully some others are heading over too.

Think im heading out about 11-11:30 , depending on my crew!!!!

jboutlaw, you leave from Hayes Haven? If so, we do too, which Baja is yours? I swear we've chatted before but never realized who eachother was on the forum. we got to checkmate with the purple

Mike, I have the 30 with the blue black and yellow graphics. We chatted a lot last year. Never ran together though. My boats already there. Haven't seen you guys yet. Hopefully we'll get a few good group runs this year now that everyone is chatting on the forum. Jason

Really looking forward to Sunday. I may trailer my boat to Between the Bridges and dump it in the drink there. I figure 10:30 - 11:00 Am for a leaving time from the mouth?? Sound about right? Im going to call John to get him to go also. A friend of mine ,Frank is also going with his Cafe Racer, and someone else with a Checkmate. So I should be a good day........Will talk to ya before then for better plans.

I should be able to make is this round. Ran into a few problems last timme i was suppsoed to go. I will be in OS.

Kevin...Sounds about right. I'm going to splash in Chester at 10 puts me through the no wake between the bridges right about 10:30. Figured we would head out a little early so we won't have to worry about dock space with a bunch of boats. I'm trying to get some more boats too but nobody seems to be boating this weekend.

Jason- I will be at the mouth at 10:30 to head over. Not sure if Im running my boat from Portland to the mouth, or trailering to Old Saybrook yet, but I WILL BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really like the run down the river, but I think its going to be a long day. So trailering may be the way to go. 203-537-7627 is my cell. Call me early sunday ,9 AM or so and we can hook up for a nice ride to Claudios. Just remember, Im only 27 ft with a single screw, so you may have to slow down alittle so I can keep up !!!!

I will be at Harbor Park on Sunday afternoon on my buddy's Sea Ray Sundancer (340) with a "boatload" of trim. Just in case you find yourselves upriver.

You got it Kev...any word from John? You could always splash at Hays Haven. I think its like $10. That way you can do some of the river.

May see you there late in the day. We usually dump our boat in across the river from Harbor Park at Portland Boatworks. Sunday is going to be a long day, but ya never know !!!:ernaehrung004:
