Mke, to call Frank an old timer thats not right. Allthough he does have a bad back and less hair then he did a couple of years ago. As a Non boat owner in here just to dream of haveing a river boat like kreed, I would say Frank Always backs up his mouth. I have been on his boat on several trips when he has left big horsepower boats in his wake when the water has been ruff...

Now we are talking! In opinion(for what it is worth) go with the Top Gun vs. Tiger. I actually like the Tiger better but they are harder on drives and don't have the resale the Gun has but both are beautiful. Jay would you be looking for a twin step or straight bottom boat?

JayFan 09-21-2009 05:42 PM

I take it you don't like Fountain's Frank..... I know you're a Ciggy fan thru and thru! Nothing wrong with that!

Twin step all the way...... I feel I'd being going backward with a straight bottom boat....hell, even my Formula now is twin step!!!

It's not that I don't like Fountains, love the older ones. There are boats I like better. Why not a 38 Fastech? Kevin Jay may have a number1 on the side of his boat first.:party-smiley-004:

Fair enough but I got to thinking enough with the boat talk winter is coming I need to get some beers in you and take you shopping down to Hunters Snowmobile in Wallingford for one of these. 10M what do think can we find Jay a ride?

10M 09-21-2009 07:52 PM

Now we're talkin! It would be cool to find a fun group of guys who can ride sleds like we drive boats. So far I've found 2...ever.

Browse below or stop by with Frank & Co, I'd be glad to show you around.

How big are your machines. A buddy of mine has a 600 he lets me use. My cousin has a 1200 but its a mofo to get him to let me use it
-Mike

10M 09-21-2009 08:44 PM

I've ridden/had them all. 800s are still my favorite. You can't beat their power-to-weight ratio for aggressive trail riding. I put about 1500 miles on a 1200X last year, it's an awesome sled but a little heavier and slower on the top end than an 800. If the 1200 was turboed and making 300HP, I'd make the permanent switch.

Speaking of...Frank you mentioned earlier that you never keep any toys longer than 2 years. That shiny yellow sled is a 2008... this is Model Year 2010...i'll have to verify by calculator but i think thats 2.

You are right, the boat paint took front seat. I am also waiting to see if Skidoo comes out with supercharged or turbo this year. I am planning on ordering a new one in March:drink:

4195 09-22-2009 06:12 AM

Kevin you need to get on this as well!!! What are you gonna be doing while we are all in VT. having a big time. Craig we need to find Kevin a sled to. Okay so far on the board we Sammy,JBoutlaw,Rolie,CRaig and myself. I am telling you Jay and Kev it is as much fun the only difference is the water is frozen and there are more bars. Oh yeah and the machines are faster and only hold 10 gallons of gas!

10M 09-22-2009 11:46 AM

Can't blame you for going for paint first. Turbo 1200 would be cool, we'll see.

In boats we go from CT to LI or RI...On sleds we go from VT to Quebec to Maine to New Brunswick to Ontario back to VT. We're lucky to go 80 miles in a day in the boats, I rarely go less than 300 a day on sleds....and it's always an adventure. A lot of those "can't describe it unless you were there" situations. good times.

kreed 09-22-2009 03:49 PM

I talked to him, needs more work than I want to put into a boat right now. Sounds complete, but needs total updating. Good Project for someone. Thank you for the lead Mike.
