Now as far as the boats compared....The Formula is a better built boat. Baja is more mass produced and cheaper quality wise. But I do love the offshore stance it has as Kevin and Frank mentioned, I think the Bajas really got it right with style and appearance. Also I am a true 30 whereas the Formula is a 29 with platform. And yes because of his small blocks I am faster. I also come on plane ridiculously quick. Ammenities are almost the same between the two. I believe the only thing I lack is a small freshwater tank with the little sink in the cabin. I have more cabin and cockpit space due to being a bigger boat. The other plus (besides big blocks) are the k-planes as compared to trim tabs. They make a huge difference in the rough or balancing a load. But both boats are absoultely perfect for our area. Small enough to trailer but large enough to boat on any given day, faster than a large amount of boats in the area, big enough to haul plenty of people around, efficient to run and own, usable cabins for overnighting, and a relatively decent price tag for an entry level performance boat as Jay and I both purchased them new. The only thing I don't have is "the bucket"!!! And...Paulie can't go on EITHER of them!!:evilb::evilb::evilb:

Some good pionts here that I overlooked but having the tabs is a big one. Jay should buy some whipples and run that Formula @85 mph. and laugh at everyone.

A man after my own heart!!!! I knew I liked you..... actually that is in the back of my mind AFTER it's out of warranty. Formula offers a five year warranty on almost everything....thus why it's tough for me to ditch it! 85mph for about 15K......much cheaper than a new boat!!!! :evilb:

Paulie , I think youve burried yourself for the last time! Frank, you are the only one to take the little guy in! Good luck with that! Oh, wait, Lefty said he would....................NOT!!!!! sorry Paulie, Roli may let you on,or is his boat not good enough for you either?:grinser010:

Kevin right know you couldnt take anyone on your boat. If I were you I would worry less about me being "out" and worry more about if your boat will ever be "out"on the water.....As for Lefty, you wouldnt catch me dead on his swamp boat....

Ok Jay, this has been on my mind for your boat also. When that boat does over 80 MPH, it puts you and your boat in a whole other catagory! I will like you better as a person. It builds character.( Not that you dont have enough now) But , heres the thing, waiting 5 years is too long. That boat is set up way to conservativley to break anything. Be a true offshore boater and set it on kill mode. That would be the coolest sleeper. I say act NOW, for we all may not be here in 5 yrs!!!! Plus, imagine what kind of panic Jason will have to go through if your boat does 85 MPH. He wont sleep at night! I may not sleep at night! Frank will never sleep again!!!!!!!!

kreed 10-30-2009 06:32 AM

When you do this Jay, Im renaming you boat........."Absolute Evil"..or "Absolutely Evil" As you can see , Im excited about this. ....Did you do it yet?....Now?.....How about now?.....Ha Ha Ha

You write the check Kev....and I'll make the order today! Deal? Actually, I only have 2 summers left on the warranty.....so it's not THAT far away!!!!

Hmmmmmmm.......just thinking, Whipples would shut everyone up now though!!!!! :party-smiley-004:

JBOUTLAW 10-30-2009 07:38 AM

Jay and Kev...It would put Jay in a whole other category. The broken drive one. I can't imagine alphas holding up too long. And I'd love to see that boat go any faster than it does. Should be interesting. And, since we're dreaming, why not throw some 6's on the back and drop in some 1050's!!! Then we wouldn't sleep!! :coolcowboy:

Any altering of the "stock" motors voids my Mercury warranty. :drink:

Jay, I see youve been doing your homework. New name on the boat: "Absolute Baja Crusher"......not refering to Jason of course. Dude, theres your ticket. Its going to be hard gettin financing on a boat in this market for a long time anyway. Have fun with what you have and for less money that you would spend trading your boat in, you have an 85, yes 85 mph rocket!! Whipple seems very confident in their product too. Hey , who knows , maybe Jason will help you install the Whipples too!!!!!:eek:
