It was Parnells (NautKitty old boat) that had the 1100/1300s in it, we repowered it with our power.
In comparison, there is no comparison. Over 100 the tiger was a bear, in the rough, it was a fantastic boat, but it needed tab. Once you got it over 90, she started to dance, it ran into the triple digits, great boat, just needed allot of power to push it.
Outerlimits, no comparison. Over 100 they just settle in and run on top. I've never slammed in either 42...and I've run into a good 4-5 food head sea at well over 115 and never thought twice (in MadHatter, the Old 42). You're thankful of the dual helm. Had it in the 42 Tiger, but it just feels second nature in the Outerlimits.
Cig for rough water, outerlimits for rough water, and big speed in rough water...
You need a hurricane to have fun in either boat

Funny story, ran Nauti out in the hurricane , I want to believe it was 02-03, ran it out into the sound running 85+ (NO BULL****) through 6-8s...came around into the gutt, and hit 10-12footers, I'll never forget the waves, they were like driving into a 2 story house, came off a wave at boat slammed, drove it up the next swell and turned around...had about enough of that lol, and cracked the gas tanks...cigarette sent us new tanks, but moved up into MadHatter, and never looked back...never had that problem in the OL....and yes....everyone else who was headed out..turned around...too bad she broke..
So if that's a good comparison hopefully it helped. Believe me, I wasn't a believer until I got out in a 42OL...the difference is unbelievable...
I've run back from Block Island/Newport in 4s with the ladies sleeping in the back seat....up on top, you just dont feel it...everyone else pulls the throttles back...in the OL...push em forward...Only side effect is the big grin on your face, and the adrenaline going up...

Those big water runs also, make no mistake, were made with race jackets, helmets and comms and . Don't want to condone anyone running those speeds without the proper gear. I'm sure everyone here knows that, especially in big water.
Calm is one thing, but running in big big rough water, you have to be prepared.

I had the sport jackets on, so did my members...several boats were not wearing anything, and there are photos to prove it..
That somewhat ticked me off...the most organized group is the Florida Powerboat Club. I have to say, they have very strict rules and go over the hand signals slowing down and what to watch for. They make sure the boats all take off in staged brackets etc. The L.I. run, I had to watch everyone in case of someone. Most were good, but no one ran together, (few vees ran with me) but everyone else was pretty much running full tilt. Not to mention some of the stops were not clearly marked.
I'd like to mention one other thing, Cigarette is also a much narrower boat, there's allot more room on an Outerlimits, it's a much larger boat inside, if that means anything to anyone. It feels much lighter than a Cigarette at the weights as well...
I know a particular boat that had nothing on, and wasn't even running a lanyard....and it's easy to point out considering the shots of this particular boat were all over the site...

I persoannly got there late, We took off just about last and the conditions looked very calm when we took off.
figured wed put vests on as we got further out and all of a sudden we were in the middle of some nasty rough stuff.
All I had on was my lanyard and I am USUALLY very good about vests. It was so rough we broke a bolt in the Bimini top frame. After we stopped to fix the top with a appropriately sized allan key and some electrical tape I couldnt find the next stop. I didnt have my GPs with me either.LOL

This why we need members/ funds in the CPBA so we can organize runs and make them safe and more fun for everyone involved.
The pavillion run is a great run, but it is a loosely governed day which allot of people really like about it.
similar to the Ct river run, both of the events really would like people to wear proper gear and ask for it as far as I know but its up to the people to police it themselves.
we in the CPBA have along way to go still, but the club is getting stronger everyday.
