Default Dont miss this post Dan................

Hey, I love how Dan disappears.... Dan, I know you watch these threads, but you only seems show face when you see the opportunity to tell someone their wrong about something. You should go into the movie business because your a great critic. Why dont you come on down off that horse and have some fun with the guys here! I feel like Ive said this in the past with the Sutphen arguement but here goes again........"We all know Outerlimits are great boats Dan!" Thats no secret, but we cant afford them! And quite Frankly, at age 21, Im not so sure you can either! Everyone in this crazy forum buys and pays for his own boat. Im sure its hard for Frank, who buys a 125K boat with his OWN HARD EARNED MONEY, to have a 21 yr old kid come on here compare it to someone elses boat because you want to prove it to be the lesser of the two? What is wrong with that picture? You seem to have no concept of money. Have you ever bought your own boat? You seem like a nice enough guy, but your living in a silverspoon world. Come back to reality Dan, your preaching "Outerlimits" to a group of people that actually have to pay to have one..... I doubt youll respond to this post cause your not good at being critisized, but this is stuff that everyone has been PM'ing back and forth about and Im going to be the guy that brings it to your attention. After you respond, I will delete the post because Im not posting it to bash you, just a reality check............Kevin

Well said Kevin. We all know and appreciate your wealth of knowledge regarding boats Dan. Although it be a little weird for a 21 year old....but to each its own.

I've read MANY MANY of your posts and Dan.....and like it or not...you do come across sometimes as a "know it all". The vast majority of guys on OSO aren't multi-millionairs.....just hard working guys that enjoy boating and enjoy the boats they are financially able to enjoy....even if that means they aren't an Outerlimits. God forbid!

Your bashing of other people's boats and the quality of their boat isn't making you any friends. Maybe you don't care....maybe you do. Who knows.

As Kevin stated.....when you finally own and maintain your OWN boat, mortgage, car payments, insurance, oil bill, workman comp insurance, general liability insurance, homeowners insurance, children, etc etc.... theeeeeen you can bash all of us for not owning an Outerlimits.

You seem to be a bit out of touch with reality Dan....... come back down here with all the peasants. You might find we're all pretty good people......eventhough we don't own (all bow)...an Outerlimits.

I agree Dan can come across that way. even when He argues with Sutphen Sr. LOL

I do think Theres more to it than we see though sometimes. I think that Dan has sgreat set up with Outerlimits. He appreciates the oppertunity he has and therefore feels obligated to PROMOTE the brand. In doing so he comes across as a Know it all and a PREACHER.

Tell me if I am wrong.

I am sure theres some being young and cocky involved too. Lets face it he knows allot for a young gun and that can go to your head a little too.

I think Eveyone here Likes Dan, from what I have heard.

They just arent too sure about his being in touch with how hard it is to achieve the abilty to own ANY boat for guys who werent born into money.

Once you stand on your own and buy your own stuff and pay your own mortgage etc its a different thing.

None of us would give away what you have though so enjoy it! Its good to be young and have no worries!

well said.

Then theres guys like the late Paul newman who gave away( to charities) enough money per year to equal 25 new outerlimits. Those are the guys who get my respect, as well as the regular joe who works his ballsack off to buy ANY boat, and give his family something a little better in life.

Sadly thats probably how Dan got in this mess, Dad, (ken) worked really hard to give Dan the best and probably just wants the best for his boy! Having a son myself I can understand that one.

+1

Edit: Just to clarify, my comment (the "+1") wasn’t directed at any one person, just agreeing that after paying all the bills on time while still putting money away for a rainy day and/or retirement, and all the other BS that comes along with the daily grind, it can get tough…and I don’t even have kids to worry about!!

My boat mechanic always jokes with me when he delivers the bill that it's too bad my dad wasn't a World Champion Knitter, 'cause I'd have a lot more money in the bank. And I think my brother (like myself) would agree that statement is the truth!!...you tend to want to follow in your dad's footsteps.

What kind of guy wants to knit anyways.......????

Wow!
Lots going on here today, I have to say there is a lot of really good points being made here in my opinion. I understand where Kevin is coming from and why others could be offended by Dan's comments. Kevin and his wife not only both work hard at their jobs but Kevin like many business owners here on the board not only took a huge risk in starting a business of their own but carry that risk everyday. So for those people to save and buy a boat and justify the ongoing expense for a sport or past time that they love so much, not mention the excitement that comes with owning a boat like those on this site it is very frustrating to have a young guy who has never experienced life on his own to say this or that is better. I know we all break em off about brand loyalty and we all have our favorites, but to say one is better or one is the best this is nothing more then opinion...and even if Jeff is wrong he is entitled to his. Dan knows a lot about these boats or who owns or has owned a certian boat. Dan has plenty of knowledge about what boat was made and how many he has done his home work and can be a very useful guy to have in a forum like this. But I agree with Kevin and Jay Fan's points that he has not had to work and save for a boat and pay for a house etc. and then come up with enough cash to buy or redo something. I have never met Justin or Adam on the board but I am aware they are both younger guys who have great rides that they can be proud of(when I was 25 I bought my first boat a 22 checkmate with a single 350/Aplha) so these guys are doing much better then me and kevin had a 18 ft Donzi with no motor just oars. Dan in my opinion is very involved in the power boat community and very excited and a little cocky. I am not saying that to be d!ck I was that way when I was younger to but you live and learn and realize you don't know all you thought you did and you learn to listen first then talk. Sometimes I still get that part backwards. I will also say I know this has come up before in different forums with Dan. For the record I like him he has been helpful but I think this could be constructive for him. I also agree with Kevin once Dan reads this maybe it is best to delete it. And anyone can buy an expensive boat it doesn't have to be an Outerlimits even if they can't afford it it happens everyday just go look at National Liquidators. Man I hope the snow melts soon so we can back to breaking Jeff's balls for always being late. Oh by the way this is excatly why Scot told me he was not buying a boat
