Okay so I am sure I will get some crap for this post, but man I thought sail boaters where suppose to be the cheap ones. First of all I believe everyone should shop for the best deal they can while not sacrificing quality. I understand nobody has money to throw away but it is December already and some of you have not found a storage facility for your boat. So now if you get something cheaper you have to ask your self was it really? Also my biggest gripe is over people coming on here and talking about businesses and that they are over charging. If that is your opinion great but don't go on a public forum and shout it from the roof tops like it is a fact. These people much like other business owners are trying to make a living and remember they do it in 6 months. Also if you did not like the price don't stay or try to negoiate a deal, everything today is negoiatble. It blows my mind how someone will compare a non secure barn with a dirt floor at a fair ground in East Butt F_ck to secured storage facility that is free from the elements. Do what you want but don't come on here and be pissed off because you don't feel it was worth it. Maybe this is not the best past time for you if you need to nickle dime it, in fact it is the worst hobby financially I can think of. Jeff if you want to get cheaper storage as we all do then get someone to give a discount to CPBA members and we will all go next year. Sorry for the rant I have had a rough day and have been meaning to write this reply anyways..............Wow I actually feel better. Oh and isn't this one of the things we have a boat club for?

Frank I see your point But we are all talking about Cheapo storage. actually my place in canton is a very scure place. Full alarm system, guys business if in the building next door, yard is gated. concrete floor but no heat.
$500 for the season.
The OTHER business we were talking about quoted two prices one was 1500 for one of our members, When I called and they didnt know it was me it was $500 less so that is where this kinda started.
I dont see the need for indoor storage normally. Its a boat, it sees more bad elements in the summer (salt water , grime etc), than its gonna see under my $500 cover and two tarps in my yard safe and sound for the winter.
Not to mention the barn at the fair gounds is only $350.00 compared to $1500 BIG DIFFERENCE and many people dont need all that Hoopla!
They just need a roof over the boat to keep water out.
Were not all TIGER OWNERS.LOL
Hope you have better day from here on out.
next year we WILL have a CPBA deal in the workings, we all just use our boats to late in the season.
A couple years ago my brother did indoor with no heat. I kept mine outdoors. In the spring my boat was in better condition, the clod kept the mold growth at bay his boat was covered in and out. He had more damp rid in that boat than you could imagine too.
We figure the sun coming in the windows warmed the building enough to promote mold growth.
I am not against anyone charging anything for storage They should get whatever they can.
I am Just too cheap to pay it for something that has little value to me.
In out no big deal either way.
Id also like to ADD
That it should kinda work like this:
If you get them and reserve the space early you get a deal.If you wait to the time when every on is in the game lloking for space you pay retail. But if you wait till all the other people who are going to get in are in and theres still some space left. They should do whatever is needed to fill that space.
Cause theres no one else in line anymore
for your discount you take the chance of NOT getting in anywhere and everything being full// Its roll of the dice!
its the same way in the cinstruction industry, were handing out DEALS right now cause theres less people buying!
in 2004 there was aline so long you couldnt see the end so we got more money for our work.
JUst the way it works I guess.

I provided the helicopter picture prices as an example in an earlier thread. Again its one thing to be charged a fee for a service or product....Its entirely different when the company or business is screwing the customer.

Moses, screwing the customer only happens when the customers fee doubles or tripples WHILE the boat is being stored. If you know the fee up front and its too much for your liking, go somewhere else. Nobody at OP is "screwing" the customer because everyone storing boats there, already knows the fee! So how are they getting screwed?? OP always has a ton of boats stored there and those people like the security, the premises, and the fact they can get high performance work done to their boats over the winter...all at 1 location. Lets face it, if you can afford to own and maintain a 100K to 400K boat, what the hell is 1.5k to store it for 6 months out of the year? Really. If I could afford a 200k boat, bet your azz it would be in a heated facility for WHATEVER it cost.

If you have not figured this out yet I love a good debate. I would disagree in the fact leaving the boat outside is equal to inside storage, with outside storage the boat will go massive temp changes due to the sun. For instance it could 40-45 degrees in the sun and 5 degrees at night, not mention the wind chill. The boat materials can go through 30-50 degree temp change many days through out the winter. Think about all that expanding and contracting. I have stored my boat outdoors for many years and then switched to inside and I think it has been beneficial, but for me I also want to know that the boat is secure so I don't have to think about it until the spring. I don't want to have to look at it in back yard either. But my over all point was this is a good place to gather info. about what others are doing and paying so you can find the best deal but the place to talk about some ones business unless you have been wronged and can prove it, then I say go ahead and blast away. Hopefully today is a better day for me today!
Indoor is not the same as outdoor. Sometime 1 works out better than the other its aroll of the dice in either circumstance.
If you store it indoor you have to worry about 10 other boats backing into or damaging your boat and its also a target for theives.
My point is that INdoor stoarge is worth more to some than others. To me its worth just barely $500.00
To Moses its worth $2.50
To you its worth $8000.00 we all see it differently.
