That is a great ship. It a shame to see it waste away. Hopefully someone with deep pockets will fix it up. Its a nice piece of history. I love to go hunt around inside it as it is to see whats left.

I've been on the United States way back when it first arrived here with a developer friend of mine. There's absolutely nothing left inside her except for steel. EVERYTHING has been removed down to the bare steel decks and partitions. I believe the power plants are still there in a pickled state but we didn't tour the whole ship top to bottom. When it first got here the original owner was trying to find investors to do the casino thing. That was before gambling was even approved in PA. Then Norwegin Cruise Lines bought her and was tossing around the idea of restoring her to original and do nostalgia cruises, Black Tie like they used to but the cost was $550,000,000.00 and wasn't cost efective. Now the historical groups are trying to get the Foxwoods casino group to do something with her before she gets scraped. Foxwoods can't seem to be able to find funding for their own casino let alone find the bucks to restore her. What a shame, she'll probly be razor blades in the end.

Sunny and 63* Sunday.
