Dont worry, as long as your not doing 100, they wont bother you. Ive been a river rat my whole life, and never a speeding ticket.

Sounds like we are planing to be River Rats tomorrow... going to the Blue Oar.
Since I'm not a pro river rat, what's this I heard about there being a speed limit on the river during the weekends? I believe King River Rat mentioned to me the other day the speed limit is 35 mph on weekends... If so, WTF is up with that??? I dont think my boat will stay on plane at 35!

When the wake is nasty for my 31 you know those 16 17 ft boats are in for a rough ride and a possible capsizing!
I hate those Cruiser Jack azzes! No regaurd for anyone but themselves. They wil run right up on top of anyone at anytime, more money than brains!

I must say i've never been bothered for speeding on the river, but.....
In 20+ years of boating on the river I have never seen as many oblivious retards driving through the no wake zones as this year. Every time I have been out this year I have seen someone driving through the no wakes on plane, 1/2 plane, or at maximum-wake-possible speed through the NWZ's. Looking around, waving, having a great time! Absolutely clueless. Yesterday I planed off after the bridge at OS, passed a 50' cruiser plowing a 5' wake, then slowed down as usual @ the NW buoy. The douche in the cruiser plows past a sailboat, a bunch of little fishing boats and me full speed, finally slowing down by dock n dine. I thought the wake was going to come over the back of my boat. I was speechless. That was a big one but i've seen a bunch of guys this year doing this.
On the way home a guy in a cc came plowing by us at the same NWZ, never slowed down for the BTB NWZ, and finally got pulled over @ the 95 bridge. Drove right up to the cop with a 2' swell behind him going about 15. Jackass.
I figured maybe the economy/gas prices would keep some of the inexperienced/newbies from buying boats, but I guess not. Maybe they're not new just really dumb.
Ok rant over.

No joke with some of those cruiser wakes. It's amazing how distructive they can be!
Although, now that I'm in river rat training, I welcome seeing the offshore conditions... however brief they may be!

I think the good deals on boats are bringing a lot of new boaters in, they just see the goid boat price and dont know the true cost of ownership so they sre buying
DEP used ro watch the launch and NWZ' s much better before maybe budget cuts?
Look at all the drift wood at Baldwin bridge launch

I got away with it yesterday... and after doing so I thought about what you said and how stupid it was doing it coming back in just before the bridge/DEP! Dumb!
I was suprised not to run into any of you guys yesterday... it was fun out in the Sound!
What's cooking for this coming weekend???
