LOL, yes the first part of the video is my boat. You're welcome to come along one of these days. :) You're welcome Mike, I'm glad you and Denise were able to make it! IDK, but I heard someone stating elsewhere that it was an offshore with an American flag down the side. Obviously my boat matches that description and I know of only one other in attendance with a flag down the side...I can tell you it was most certainly NOT me that blew through the Middletown/Harbor Park no wake zone. I idled through on both the north and south bound trip, I'm sure my passengers and any surrounding boats will confirm that. With that said, my wake is no doubt larger idling than it is at speed, but regardless I complied as I always do through that NWZ. |

Anyone know the Silverton cruiser out there today? I think they were in the run last year. Someone onboard snapped a shot of us jumping the wake (not in the no wake zone!) - I would LOVE to get that photo. Thanks.

http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...4/NEVERSAT.png There was also a Cigarette with flag graphics who complied as well http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...aretteflag.png There were other parts to that report about boats that don't even seem to exist. If the owners of either "flag" boat could PM me here, I'd like to hear any comments they may have. If we have false accusations being made, then that needs to be addressed when the situation is discussed with the DEEP. |
Yup scot def slowed in the No wakes. Tell them Suck my balls if need be I will tell them my self
|
Who owns the cig with flag graphics? the graphics look very similar to mine and was wondering if the same painter did his.
|
Ss930, can't remember if Dave hunter or Vincent painted that boat.
|
Great shot of the Rough Rider!

As both Sick Stinger and I stated above, I (the owner of the 46 cig) did not blow through Petzolds or the Middletown NWZ, nor have I ever.
FWIW, I ran up river on Sat with that Fountain and he did not blow through either NWZ (I obviously did not either). I can't speak for him as I wasn't running with him on Sunday, but based on my experience with him the day earlier, I don't have any reason to believe he would have run them on Sunday. I'm being told someone saw one of the two boats blow through the Harbor Park NWZ, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that it was not the cig pictured above doing so (north or south bound). Anyone saying I did is point blank telling false statements! I would have no problem getting plenty of witnesses to attest to that fact that I didn't run that NWZ. If anything, I suspect whoever is saying this garbage has an axe to grind... BTW, thanks for the great pic! ;) |
oh jesus...here we go.

Billy,
Hunter painted my boat. Yours was a copy-cat. :D |

The report called the Fountain by it's name and another boat "painted like a flag" plus a third orange boat. This seemed very odd when I discovered the Fountain was in fact a boat with flag graphics. Why wasn't the Fountain identified as a "flag boat"? It become more fishy seeing the Fountain was a local boat right out of Portland, who would know the rules well and would be less inclined to "crap where he eats". Then after reviewing every photo and video of the event, we find there was no orange offshore boat in attendance at all.

what are these "no wakes" you guys are so concerned about?
|
It's a ct thing, bunch of them on the River. Up here the marinas either deal with the wake or build break walls

It needs to be kept in mind that most marine enforcement agencies now fall under the umbrella of Homeland Security, and have frightening authority including the power to seize someone's boat on a whim. This was part of the discussion with the officers on the beach. If we antagonize the locals and the authorities too much, they will go out of their way to put an end to this event, which is literally one phone call away from being finished after 15 years. |

They can not seize your boat due to a NWZ infraction I don't care if it's the president. Unless the boat is unsafe to operate or not legal to be on the public waterways there is only citations that can be issute. If those cum guzzlers want to call the water patrol flamers so be it. Come up her non of that no wake bull, run them hard as you want. And there are plenty of spots to raft and offer the pizza HQ from.

I was duped , I thought I had the ONLY american flag boat lol Hunter did the Cig right after 9/11 as a tribute. I saw yours a while ago and couldn't help but notice how heavily influenced the painter (EG) must have been from Hunter's work. You know what they say... Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! :D In all sincerity, I really like the paint work on both boats... I've seen your boat over on LI, it's a beautiful rig! We'll have to tie all three of the flag boats together at Claudio's one of these days. ;) |

"""" So i just got a call from a cop buddy of mine that was sitting in Harbor Park parking lot bull****ting with a Conversation Officer. He said they both watched two boats racing through the bridges right past Harbor Park. One boats name was "Not Satisified" and the other was a boat with a red white and blue flag on it. Another boat they say was some orange boat with a number 39 on it blasting through the nwz in front of all the portland marinas. The comment from the Conservation officer to my cop buddy was "that wont happen again next year". Take it for what its worth guys... but its your day to lose. """" Doesn't sound credible to us . |
It seems that this is going to turn into a " he said she said" issue. At this point there is a lot of boat colors ,numbers ,brand names ,ect , being thrown out as the bad guys... and without video, its next to impossible to pinpoint the culprit. I would say theres no doubt that a few boats ran through the NWZ somewhere along the way and that is bad. But before this turns into a huge problem with verbal assults, and accusations, we should just bring this problem to light and focus on correcting it for the future boat fun runs. I know there was some question as to whether or not the "normal rules and regulations" were in effect this late in the season and I thought the questions were clearly answered, but a lot of out of state boaters aren't familiar with the CT. rules and regulations. So, IMO, from this point on, we should look forward to next years event and making sure this doesn't happen again by reminding EVERYONE involved how important the no wake zone rules really are.. This boat run is way too fun an event to start any negative overtones around the two biggest boating sites (OSO and S+F) on the east coast. This run seems to be growing rapidly, and Id like to keep it that way! Thats my worthless .02

Well said

Witness to the false accusation
I happen to be on one of the two "flag boats" on Saturday and Sunday and the other is a very close friend of mine. Neither of them would ever blow a no wake zone let alone in his back yard. Maybe the cop saw the boats take off after the bridge which is the end of the no wake zone. This to me is the only rational answer.

Definitely agree it's time to start looking forward and it will start with better information and mapping about "problem areas" that need a little more attention. |
Agreed. How about next year we hope for a couple extra degrees and smoother water. I know everyone looks forward to the event.
I'm from a marina a little further up than harbor park and we have loved this event since It started. With every crowd there's a couple crabby apples. Thanks for another great experience and hope to see all of you guys plus more next year! |

as mentioned above everyone should focus on future runs however in my opinion there will still be a few stray offenders who think they are above the no wake zones. thats just life. |
This is a lot of back and forth over a few ripples..... Most cruisers throw a bigger wake just off idle. Must be another one of those things, "it's for the children" like the assault weapon ban and high capacity magazines.
