Am I missing something, do you mean the place is to small for us, I know the water has been down in that area. Or is it just the sound of our hardware, or should I say 10x's hardware will attract some attention :

Dyno and I are kicking around a Mi shoreline "crawl" Friday - Sunday, so if anyone has ideas for some ports of call, we are all ears

Donna, with all the people Dyno, Waterfoul, SuperV, fred and I know in Great Lakes Marina and the Muskegon area we can get transportation to let anyone find the neat places in Muskegon to browse.

It sounds like this club is in need of a planning committee. It seems like some good ideas are forming and it would be a shame to loose them because they were not organized in time.

Should we take this to the next level and have a group assigned do some planning for the season? Then the planning for the following year could be passed on to another group.

Or is this complicating things too much?

Time to have a formal meeting?

Jack???

Yes we probably need a few volunteers to help with some trip planning. Jack has a lot going on with War Party, the Sep. run, and maybe even a day trip.
My thoughts are 2 trips a MI shoreline trip and IL/WI trip. Probably one in July and one in August. Dyno, Crazyhorse, and myself could work on the MI one, (others welcome to help also) Perhaps SteveL, and some of the guys from Chicago could put together the one for the other side of the pond.

Ok who is volunteering to be on the COPS planning committee????? Please post your name and your email address; I'll start: Donna Blain [email protected]

Donna if COPS wants to have an event on this side of the pond thats great then I'm off the hook. I'll help if I can.... the reason that I asked about the cops schedule was so that I didn't plan a run here on the same weekend. I think alot of people dont come down for the cops runs (me included)becouse they arent a member or becouse they think they wont fit in. I was looking to stag an event in Wwest Michigan that was low cost with a family atmosphere. SOTW is an ausome event but just out of my price range. I've even thought about an OSO regatta over the same weekend in Holland that way we could all run up to Grand Haven to watch the big boys together. My intention is to have an event that appeals to the masses not just a chosen few.

If we have something on this side of the pond we will definitely need your help, you know the area better than most, plus then you get a say in the dates

OK I was trying to edit my post after you edited yours,
everyone fits in at COPS even Jack; the last time I heard his boat is missing the drivers seat
Your right about the costs, I was thinking about it when Jack said he was planning a poker run, frankly I am tired of paying money for runs, why do we have to pay a bunch of money just to get OS boats together to go someplace, Ian & I never win and we could care less about a goodie bag. My idea is the same as your's, lets keep it simple, pay for our slips and food and the more the merrier. I think that's probably what most of the group is interested in as well.
One of the reason's COPS became popular is Jack has kept the cost down and promoted a club atmosphere without a bunch of dues where everyone is welcome. So far I think the only costs involved in a cops run was to cover the helicopter, I am sure if we do more runs we will not need or want one at every function. In fact I vote no helli for the MI weekend.
