Default OE Shifting

Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and if you have a solution. 39 OE 1988, two BBC Blower motors, Huber transmissions, and ASD 1600. When I put it into gear it stalls. Need to set approx. 1500 rpm to shift then set idle after it's in gear. Is this normal? What can be done to fix it? Thank you.

Call Dave Wesseldyk at Wesco. He can hook you up. It will cost a few bucks but it works and is worth every penny.

He installed the system on my 39 OE with 1100's and 40 Skater with 1000's. No stalling.

What did he install and what does it do? Will it work on non EFI engines. I don't have any computers. Just good old Holley carbs. Thanks

Will work real well. I have dominators.

A system much like on a car. It squirts a small amount of fuel into the carb when you pass out of neutral into gear. Pretty slick. No maintenance and it works.

My motors are 600 cu. in. and from Wesco Racing. They idle at 500-600 rpms in gear. The engines have NEVER died from shifting in gear. In fact, I never touch the throttles at all to park the boat. It is like parking a Searay. Dave has the setup and worth every penny!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies. Talked to Dave. He only installs on motors that he builds. He likes to fine tune them so they work perfect. I need to fix my problem without shipping motors. Once again thanks.

Common blower engine problem. Sometimes you can adjust the carbs idle mixture to help. There is a cure that involves a solenoid that will push the throttle linkage a little to prevent the stall. Check with CP Performance, Teague or Ateco can help you out.
