8400 in biloxi not counting mercs 2500 cont fund. what cha think about that? hell we got 5300 for second place too. do the math, we made more money in 2 races than we did in a whole year in f3 in 2001

He is some math.

2 x "525 package" plus freshening during the season. = ??????

2 x "850 package" plus freshening during the season. = ??????

minus credit for parts and labor = ????

I did not want to put numbers in because someone might not be getting the same deal as someone else.

Tony,

They will not give you contingency. You are 3 inches too short and your drives are better than stock. Keep what you got and have fun counting the savings.

Your drives just turned 14. When you go to Pittsburg, CA they will be on old ground, they set the kilo in 96 with Rique and George on loan from Serralles. :drink:

OSS has really worked hard to continue to grow the sport! Very impressive to all involved.

Tony, unlike some I can count!
$7500.00 plus $15,000.00 from merucy equals $22,500.00, yes that was included for the 850 class, however I did forget to mention the motor rebate money at the end of the season plus national money for the top finishers. Mercury has also stepped up with a no change rule for those packages until 2010 (info to follow) Your right my estimnates where alittle low! And don't forget quality media coverage and TV.

Shifter I guess towing to cali and racing for fun makes sense, but thanks for the negative post. Sell your drives to poker runners they make all the money.

The moral of the story is the guys cashing the checks seem very happy and those chasing the money are having alot of fun..............Its not a living yet but its great racing!

We should of started playing golf at a much earlier age. No engines , drives , motor homes - just a caddie and a set of clubs. If your not a zillionaire offshore racing will put you in the poor house.

You could make more than ten times that if they used their boats for fishing instead - something is wrong with that picture.

And Poker Runs are much more dangerous than racing anyway... Maybe that's why they get bigger prize money...

I did not know that the 525 have to be re freshed .Our engine is 4 years old and has never been touched. The Mercury contingency is the best known to the racing community. We always welcome competition from any other supplier that wants to test
their product. The 850 is under ivaluation, but as far as I know, nobody is schedule for a rebuild during the season.
Tony,
man up.I said hello to Joey for you.

Will if you welcome competition how come Mercury is the single source supplier in the 850 class and 525 classes?

Tom, As you know it is up to the class to decide on motor packages , I am sure if a motor vendor can offer a lucrative package the racers will approve it. They are also the most recognized motor in the marine industry thus have significant resale value. I don't know of any vendor other than mercury giving anything back to the racers at this time. I am sure the 850 class would consider other sources that will build to the same specs with the analog recorders. As far as I know ever other class is very happy with the running the same equipment, one less variable. The competion comes from the racers efforts, skill, testicle fortitude and determination, not the manufacture we only want some of our money back from them.

John I was just going by what you put in POST 4 ..."that doesnt even include Mercury money" So it does include Mercury money..I thought the 850 class prize money was only supposed to be for the SUPERCATS..where did the other 7500 come from..Is it the 750's purse being used??? John its nothing personal but after Destin..I have a real phobia about peoples "word ".So I just like it to be put in black and white..Im sure as a business guy YOU TRULY understand that..
