OSS coming back to LOTO in 2013???

There has been talk on MWBP that OSS is coming back to LOTO June 7-9, 2013. There was an article in the local LOTO paper and it was talked about on the radio.

Anybody else know anything???? It sounds like its still in the planning stages on one hand, then it on the other, it sounds like its a done deal.

Griff, it's about time someone posted over here about this. :drink:

This is really exciting to think about. We're at the 3.5mm and would be close to the action. I hope it happens.

I don't believe full funding has been secured to bring them here. The radio advertisements etc. that have been seen and heard locally, state that there will be charities that benefit from any excess funds, however at that same time they are searching for supporters. Having seen race efforts cancelled in the past last minute after lots of propaganda to get people excited, and hope that conjurs up enough interest to secure the funds, but comes up short, I have to wonder. Then again, Osage Beach did spend about $55,000 ( i think ) on a white "Hollywood style" sign, that can be seen coming into town on the new highway. Wish i was the guy that made and installed that, musta been some profit in that project.

It does sound like they have the approval to close down Bagnell Dam to all traffic to allow a spot for spectators. I'd think that there would need to be some pretty sound backing for the DOT to agree to that. I am thinking that it will be happening.

Doesn't OSS have some commitment from racers/race teams during the planning stages or do they just make a race announcement and hope teams show up?
Race or no race it is still a good reason to drag the boat to the lake for a long weekend. :ernaehrung004:

I think that the last time OSS was in town they invited POPRA to also take part. these are more of the west coast guys. Being in the middle of the country allows for some of this "co-mingling".

With all of the powerboats at LOTO, and the class structure of OSS, I would think there would be plenty of boats racing. It will sure give alot of folks the opportunity to "walk the walk".

It will be a great venue!
