class 5 boats

Henderson could you post a list of class 5 boats that are expecting to run some races this year. You have a good handel on the boats in this class and it would be great to have a list that we can add to. If any of you know of any new teams Mark could put them on the list. Mark you can start with Typhoon I like being on the top. Im thinking 12-16 teams? Lets make this class the biggest most competitive exciting class ever.

Al,
Awesome...Class 5 is going to be like what the old A and Factory 1 Classes once were.Single engine open cockpit vee bottom racing is where it is at.I also think that Class 6 will see some growth in 2008,as will the other OPA Classes.Looking forward to racing with you guys this season!

Mark

That looks like 21 boats in my book. Sweeeeeeeet.
I would assume that Ocean city will be the big one in the middle of the Yankees and Red Necks states.
Whats the highest boat count for a class? Im thinking A class at one of the Worlds in KW. This could be the 2nd biggest in history. DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF HISTORY???????

Trent,
Cool.Competition and close racing is what it is all about.Regarding your number;I think it can be only three digits.

1994 APBA/SBI/USO Key West Worlds:34 A boats !The start out of harbor was unbelievable! The race was great from begining to end. With so many boats, there was always someone that you were trying to pass, or someone that was trying to pass you!!We swapped positions with a number of boats in the middle of the pack lap after lap.Our team finished 17th the first day,and 9th the second day.It was the best offshore race ever...147 boats total!

Look forward to hanging out with ya again Mark, honestly I'm there to race, I really could care less about numbers, its Haggins/Smitty's call. This is racing for fun and I had a blast in Chat last year with you guys, so here I come. :D

The old Haulin Glass is sitting in the yard just waiting for 2 new Merc Trans. Smitty tried to rebuild ours but they were to far gone to make it to Key West. I am hoping to get them out in the next couple of weeks and get the new ones in. Would like to get out there with you guys and have some fun.. I will keep you posted.

It would be great to see your team out on the race course Michael. As you know;your boat has a great racing heritage as "Kamikaze"...and then later as "Hauling Glass".I know alot of people really like the fact that many cool traditional offshore race boats are being brought out of retirement and raced in the OPA.
Thanks for responding!

Why not, he's been telling me where to go for years.

Wazzup Racing 03-05-2008 08:16 AM

I believe this class will be the best racing we have seen in years. I have recieved a few calls in ref to Nitros Oxide. Although it is not mentioned in the rule book, we are not going to allow this. I can only imagine how many tanks some teams would fill the bow with. Smitty

Superheat 03-16-2008 06:16 PM

I have been reading these posts about the 2008 OPA race season, I am in the last build phase of my new boat. I have tried to reach out to both Alan and Smitty for the correct registration paperwork but to no response, I know that they are very busy with the start of the new season on our door steps. Anyway just wanted to chime in with our addition to the list of boat who are racing the 2008 season, can't wait to start and look forward to Ocean City, MD.
