sb racing how is bottom of your boat. did you guys get a chance to get it off the trailer and see how bad the damage was?
The actual hole is about 6" X 6" which explains why we didn't take on enough water to go down. The rest of the damage is alot of delamination and torn glass. It is certainly fixable. Will be taking it to fiberglass guy in a few weeks. Look forward to going at it again with you guys next season. |

as far as i know, its 30' and under...single screw w/ bravo style drive....i think i heard the twin engine boats currently in class 5 have been "grandfathered" in.....someone wanna confirm or correct me on that?
i was thinkin there should be a twin engine class 5....maybe up to 35ft, there is alot of twn engine boats out there with stock power that would be competitive. Not trying to single out the twin engine boats currently running class 5, because i do like the higher boat count.....but....i feel they do have an advantage at most race sites.....any thoughts from other class 5 guys?? Gary was peacefully sleeping in back while I was driving home from Orange Beach... Seems we have a problem with limits. http://i56.tinypic.com/2s19llh.jpg |
Oh boy, all this chest pumping, and a 16 year old won the class. I dunno, must be a Jersey thing. All busting aside, great class this year. Great to see some Michigan boyz , bought an Easy Pass. Might be three races up there this year.

OK, I'm gonna chime in .............
As far as dropping a race ............Drop worst finish should not equal a race not entered. A race not entered is a race not entered. To me it is unfair that a team puts out the money to travel to every race and then will have to drop the points, as where another team can sit home save the travel $$$ and drop 0 points. To me this can effect the turn out of boats in a less popular site or a further distance race for a team. Fine to drop worst finish, but should not be allowed to drop a race not attended. I am mixed on a boat that breaks and does not finish as to a boat that finishes and breaks. This season we have seen boats that have broke and still got 1st place. This to me might need to be looked into. Also another thing that might need t be looked into, is if a race is cancelled due to an "Act of God". To the best of my knowledge, I believe there has now been 3 races cancelled over the past 4 yrs due to inclement weather/conditions (Point Pleasant, Algonac & Atlantic City). I don't know what the answer is, but might need to be further discussed. Go ahead beat me up for saying what I'm saying as I'm not a racer, but I am only looking in from the outside. I listen to a lot of different people and can only ask & pose the same questions they ask me. |
8 Race schedule I would say 'count a teams best 7"
6 Race schedule I would say count them all. ------------------------------------------------------ |

6 Race schedule I would say count them all. ------------------------------------------------------ Rick, I just feel but using a throw away it will hurt a struggling site or a far site. Just think it's unfair to penalize a team for making all 8 races. Most sites need as many boats as we can get, and with a throw away pointed race being = to a DNS 0 point race, just seems it can hurt the site's attendance. This is the last I will comment on this. BTW - Are you planning on racing a complete season next year? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.) Hope you can make it to the Winter Awards Dinner |

Hope you can make it to the Winter Awards Dinner Allot of people were talking about 8 races just being to many. It was hard on equipment and the pocket book. 6 is a nice number; 3 east and 3 mid-west and 1 worlds. If it's a 6 race series count them all, if its 8 count your best best 7 if its 7 count your best 6. Teams will always want to make "every race" unless they just cant because of money, mechanical or other commitments. If you have a "throw away event" that does not mean teams wont show or go. Most will want to give themselves an extra race cushion. Remember it's your best 7 (or 6) if you break out or break at one race your going to want to make it up. Still unsure about what boat I'm running next year, Gary and I are looking into a "SVL" but thats in the air at this time. Now if I'll be racing every race ?? Not sure, work, family, kids... lots of things change and family is first and foremost above everything. Mary is already unhappy when I get home from work at 8:00 every night than drive to the shop till 12:00pm/12:30am .. as much fun as boat racing is I'll will never put it in front of my family, that's just a quick road to divorce court. |
Guy's, Smitty, Louie and I are already talking about next year and how many races are going to happen. As always, we're trying to give everyone THE BEST bang for their money...just give us a little time to discuss this further. Oh an Gary, REMEMBER...as your present arrived outta nowhere one cold SATURDAY...I can have you found:greenchainsaw: ANYWHERE! :violent-smiley-045:Pleasant Nightmares!!!!!!:violent040: Now don't bust my horns, I'm going to take a nap!

I got faith in Smitty, Louie & the rest of OPA to schedule these races with the racers best interests at heart. Some times it just cannot be done. Also keep in mind, the organization may want the race to be a specific weekend but the town may have other events scheduled and cannot schedule a race around us. Remember what I mentioned above are questions/discussions amongst racers & non-racers. All I suggested was a few things to look into. |

I know you want more races up by you, but we have the 4 East races (Regular season was 2 in MD, 1 in NJ , 1 NY, 2 in MI, the 7th was the race in Sunny Isles and #8 being Orange Beach). Rick take a look at the points and you will see what I've mentioned about with a "0" being a throw away has already occurred. I do agree that there needs to be a space between races, back-to-back races are hard and then you have to take into consideration about the summer holidays. All in all it is just hard to work around everyone's schedule.
