Guess I'll have to wait till tomorrow for the Press Release. River Race or Lake Race? I'm curious. Great Job and I can't wait till summer.

SHARKEY-IMAGES 01-31-2011 11:20 PM

Early June in New Jersey with past experiences is way too risky for bad weather.

I am personally hoping to have my prayers answered that Atlantic City will be happening on the weekend of June 25th & 26th as it would be tied in with the NJPPC Poker Run that same weekend...

Smitty,
Correct me if I am wrong, but OPA usually runs on Sundays.
June 25th is a Saturday ....

This season I have a feeling is going to be brutal !

My tentative schedule:

Wahoo ATV 02-01-2011 07:25 AM

You don't want to miss Port Huron. This will be off the hook. You have never seen water like this and the City is like a large St Clair. All the water draining from the upper Great Lakes of Michigan, Superior and Huron passes through this river on its way to the Ocean. "The current flow here is more than 90 million gallons of water per minute. At Port Huron, under the Blue Water Bridge, the river narrows to a few hundred feet; current here consistently exceeds 10 knots." It can get extremly violent and the lake as it pour under the bridge frequently has 5-6 foots. It will be like racing in an inlet with the tide coming in.

Wazzup Racing 02-01-2011 10:16 AM

You're just trying to scare us away. The race coarse will be very different. Lots of turns, running through Sarnia and back across to the US.

Wahoo ATV 02-01-2011 10:39 AM

Last time I saw Ed Smith "running through Sarnia" the OPP were chasing him.

lindeman 02-01-2011 01:13 PM

What happened to Sunny Isles? It was on the first tentative schedule

Now I don't want to piss on anyone parade but have you seen the OPA racers lately? Most you Jersey and NY boyz are not the sharpest tools in the shed, I mean you guys get lost on courses with only 4 turns.....

Thanks Rick!

That course looks great for spectator viewing from both Countries and the water conditions could be challenging for the racers as I remeber a lot of swells and chop there. I'm really looking forward to seeing another great race right after the St. Clair River Classic this year.
