Sorry folks, as a first time event much of the time has been spent with all the officials and permits. Much involved to run an event in two different countries. We sent Allan up there yesterday, he will be back tomorrow with all the poop. Desmond landing is the dry pit area. We are firming up the Canadian Activities. Don't miss it. Gonna be big. Smitty

click on lodging and it will give you a list of all hotels, motels and lodging within city and the surrounding area....
*note* There is construction on I-94 on the Black River overpass and there are some hotels located there along Water Street. They are away from downtown but it's a short drive down on Water St.

Desmond Landing is basically a low flat land on the west shore of the St. Clair River andmouth of the Black River; the area is going to be perfect for spectators to watch all the action. Acheson Ventures has a building there with ceiling to floor windows for spectatcular viewing of the entire length of the river, as well as a Chocolate Habour deli/donut shop inside. There is also a large tent with an ice cream and french fry vendor just north of this building. I'm not sure if they'll have grandstands, but it should be great for everyone.
In past years, they had the race out in the lake but it unless you were out on a boat, it was bad for spectators. In the St. Clair River this year, where both Port Huron is on the west shore and Sarnia on the east shore, It should be great for fans on both sides.

Ok here's the Skinny!!!!!!
Yes the Dry Pits are going to be at Desmond Landing. Its similiar to St Clair your pit is a couple hundred feet from the River. The Hot Pits are a 2 minute ride from the Dry Pits.
I am coordinating for this event as well. I will have info for you when you get to St. Clair for Port Huron. We will be able to get into Desmond immediately following St Clair. If you have any question Just give me a call 810 357 5527.
We will also be doing a meet and greet Autograph session on both sides of the river. US and Canada, that being said if you followed Smitty's advise and submited your info for Manifest you will be able to cross theborder without any troubles.
See you all next week
Regards
