Waterboy, explaine why you think class jumping would be bad. Its a fine line between 70 and 75 and most teams could race twice in a weekend which would also increase boat count/compatition per class. It is GPS racing so. Im sure you have a good reason just not sure what it is. Im not being negative just would like to hear your opinion.

555 is in for class 5....and maybe 4 if we're all running 2 classes...which i was told last year we couldn't do...
if ya go from 5 to 4...ya stay in 4, not go backwards again....which makes sense to me....:grinser010: |
Im just saying please explain the pro's and con's of GPS racing. The first con I can think of would be guy's building big power for a boat that can out excellarate in a lower class and maybe shouldnt be there. Those guy's have ego issues. On the other hand boats going up in a class to race where they need to race at WOT,trim and pray for the dock is someone I have respect for. In no way is it good to move down to a class to spoil a guy's dreams who has built a boat for a class. IMO I like the idea of class 6 guy's coming back out to raise the bar to 75 MPH. This sport is about big nut's and no fear. Sitting back and taking the comfortable ride is not what great men will be remembered for. Its the team that did what no one else thought they could do with there boat. Respect is earned on the battle field where the little guy kicks the $hit out of the big money teams. (IMO Smith brothers,Mark Kowolski,Jay Muller,Eddie Simmons,Kostilack brothers,Anthoney Smith and Wil Ross are the real deal.) Beat them heads up and you have my respect every day of the week. Winning with more HP just seems lame to me. Dont shoot me!

To add just a littel more. I feel each team should have to put a sticker under there class number that states there estamated HP and weight, loud and clear for all to see!!!! Let everyone know what you have vs the rest of the boats in your class !!!!!!

Hmmm.....not real sure how to take Randys rant. I agree with a lot but just not sure. As a little team throttleman I can say that we built a boat for class 6 in the middle of the horsepower "standard" for our class. We beat a few and didnt. Just goes to show that smaller hp boats can beat a bigger hp boat in its class. Just so happens that chips also fall and where they land sometimes nobody knows, hence our team coming in 3rd for the National points and scaithing World Champions in Jupiter our first full season out. True we do want to step up to 5. Its not that we are too good for class 6 and we sure dont think we are gonna kick a$$ in 5. Without being able to buy a bigger boat right now we feel we can gain experience by moving up. Our boat can run it. So can EVERY CLASS 6 BOAT NOW! so....thats my rant. Im no pre madonna and I sure as hell have earned the respect of a few of the teams we race against, but I dont have an agenda and I sure as heII dont have an ego! I just like to race with great people and have fun at it. Who knows Randy, one day I might race in your class, right after I have raced every other class and earned their respect. I bet there are a few teams with more of a budget than ours and just remember....."you can be poor......but you dont have to look it!"
....and I'll be the first to tell anybody what we have. Our boat weighs 4200 lbs and we made 615 hp on the dyno last year and I run pump gas unless I run the timing over 40* then I mix 5 gallons of Cam 2 in a full tank of gas. See ya all in May!

This is getting off topic but i cant let this go.
First in my opinion racing two classes if they are close in speed i see no problem with that. AS far as class 6 goes last year there was only one team that had a smaller engine than me and that was the cotner trailer boys to the best of my knowledge all other teams had 502 ci and bigger and some were a lot bigger and running race fuel. Next if i were to power my old boat to run 70 mph i could have done it with a 454 ci 365 mag and with all the big power in class 6 i would have my rear handed to me. The moral here is not ego but dont bring a knife to a gun fight. These are my opions and i have lots more almost as many as trent:poopoo: |
