As a little team throttleman I can say that we built a boat for class 6 in the middle of the horsepower "standard" for our class. We beat a few and didnt. Just goes to show that smaller hp boats can beat a bigger hp boat in its class. Just so happens that chips also fall and where they land sometimes nobody knows, hence our team coming in 3rd for the National points and scaithing World Champions in Jupiter our first full season out. True we do want to step up to 5. Its not that we are too good for class 6 and we sure dont think we are gonna kick a$$ in 5. Without being able to buy a bigger boat right now we feel we can gain experience by moving up. Our boat can run it. So can EVERY CLASS 6 BOAT NOW! so....thats my rant. Im no pre madonna and I sure as hell have earned the respect of a few of the teams we race against, but I dont have an agenda and I sure as heII dont have an ego! I just like to race with great people and have fun at it. Who knows Randy, one day I might race in your class, right after I have raced every other class and earned their respect. I bet there are a few teams with more of a budget than ours and just remember....."you can be poor......but you dont have to look it!"

....and I'll be the first to tell anybody what we have. Our boat weighs 4200 lbs and we made 615 hp on the dyno last year and I run pump gas unless I run the timing over 40* then I mix 5 gallons of Cam 2 in a full tank of gas.

See ya all in May!

My post was not to DISRESPECT any of the class 6 teams. It was to show my respect for some of my hero's of the sport. I am sorry that I came off in another way. If you have a class 6 boat by all means build power if you want to win. IMO i just wish the fans knew what power each team had so they can also understand why some boats can maintain speed in the turns and others cant. You have a kick a$$ team for your first year out. Keep up the good work. And that includes you Gary.

Only because there was no internet back then!

That and back then we were so busy finding .0003 MPH all winter in our setups we had no time to argue :D

I think it would make sense to add some simple and easy to enforce parameters in addition to speed and boat length as criteria for class placement.

I like that Mark. How about some examples.

These would have to be implemented over time...but to start no blower motors in Classes 4,5 and 6.Eventually maybe compression, exhaust, drive and horsepower limits could be added.Just a thought.

Im fine with blower motors in 4...but a 40 foot length limit would be nice.

Makes sense to me. I think f2 and B boats is essentially what makes up this class.
32 Cobra- B Boat
34 Phantom- B Boat and F2
38 Formula- F2
39 Velocity- F2
31 Scarab- B Boat (Remember INDIGO?)
30 Century- B Boat
etc

We part ways here bubba. How could you be in favor of blower motors but yet get your pantys in a twist about goin 90? just askin. I'm a fan of NA for production classes.
