As far as the "entry level" thing ............ The old verbiage stated "it is DESIGNED as an entry level", never specifically stated it was, and has been removed. They is no "entry level" stated in the rule book.

Yes, nothing "entry level" according to my checkbook.

This is a competitive class. It appears a fair compromise would be to take 50 percent of the purse to be broken down between 1,2,3. Obviously high to low. Then take the other 50 percent and split equally as tow money for the remaining boats.

Dave,
What about jump starts?
How are you going to handle that if O.P.A. Officials do not penalize teams for jumping the start.
Anyway, what is the penalty for jumping the start?
Last year we had some teams that jumped the start.
What about getting cut off by SVL's ? Or teams in any other class?
If we are just racing for a trophy then its okay. But if we're racing for money then we have a serious problem.
What is the penalty for getting cut off by another class??

We have always raced for money. The discussion is how to distribute the purse. On course violations such as jumping starts are a separate issue.

Jeff,

I agree with Rich, those are all valid concerns but
def off topic. We are simply trying to establish a better way to distribute the purse.
Many of us, including myself spent good money on upgrades over the winter and
It would be nice to recoup some funds.

I saw you get cut off in Solomon's, but that's part of racing and happens all the time.
Infact, back when we use to race just 1 race per venue it happened more often.
Prior to 2006, it was not uncommon to have 25 boats all on the same course at the same time.

I like the idea of a little of both. 50% tow & 50% placement. "Grinch"

Just my opinion. Not many people make every event, and theres too many people that dont come to run competitively, no need for names, and at the end of the day this isnt t ball we dont get a trophy for showing up. So with that being said, i think this is how this is going to go as class rep at the next race were going to vote on this...

tow money will only be offered to the boats who attended the race prior.
prize money for top three.
and if you break out you get squat! no money for DQs.
Now theres some time to think im going to get with pops today and set this up, so i highly recommend your best efforts on being in st. clair.

By only paying the tow money to the people attending the majority of the events you cut the 10 boats in half and have money left for the prize purse, and maybe the no dq money will cut down on the flag stealing bs. and just remember my t ball statement.. if everybody gets a trophy, in t ball every kid pays entrance fees, but nobody remembers what thats like...aside from all this it costs around 1800- 2500 to come to a race i know myself between fuel hotels food and ect.. it gets pricey, whats a 300$ check or in the event of a 50/50 purse split, whats 150 a boat tow money is pissing in the wind. im not saying this is how it will be done but its one or the other no in the middle this is the fairest compromise i see.

Happy Racing!, Boomer

$300 check X 8 races = $2400
$150 Check X 8 races = $1200

Not all of us can up and leave our jobs/business' to go to every race.
Tow money is appearance money. You show up, you get it, results are not a factor. (Prize money, different story. BO should not get prize money).

And I didn't steal no flag. I gave it to Dave.

Dave,
I understand your point. you guys ran great and you have a very competitive boat.
But the way I look at it is this. Someone will always be able to outspend me and make their boat more competitive. Therefore it will always be an unfair advantage and not a level playing field.
The travel money is what gives the less competitive teams the incentive to go all around the country with OPA.
I do understand your point though.
if all the bolts were equal and the same then I would definitely rather race for money
looking forward to seeing you guys again and racing against you.
