APBA held the 89 worlds ,the races were held off till sunday because of bad weather at least two racers were killed, one when a B boat stuffed at the start of the first race and one in the second race when the ocean calmed down a lot and Skater Express barrel rolled just before the pier! That year Don Johnson,Chuck Norris and Kurt Russel came and raced! The now famous Littel Seasers big air picture was taken, the landing was when the boat busted in half! That was my first offshore race, and I was scared to death but I finished 3rd in B behind Lady and Feaver! I still have film and the trophy to remind me how old I am!!! Ron,
I dont think anyone was killed when the B Class boat "Yes Express" stuffed; but the crew suffered some serious injuries.Unfortunately, Kevin Brown was killed when his "Team Skater" Modified Class boat stuffed. You were in the B-50 boat with Art Lilly, right?

Ron,that "Executioner" was a real runner, and one of the loudest boats that I have ever heard!I remember "Kamikaze" as well....they eventually came back out with a 29' Mirage.

I really liked Art's first raceboat "Joker"...22' Velocity twin 200HP's....the Stock Class vee bottoms were a great class.

Hey Ron, great to see you on the board! Hope you're planning on coming back to Cambridge this year in your new ride.

Waterboy-that Velocity was owned by VelocityMike here on OSO, but he recently sold it to some guy from Bermuda-it was a running machine
