I dont think Junk is the point, It's the market that OL is targeting and it seems to be working for them, People buying boats of this caliber can have what ever engine pkg they want and despite the fuel $ the bigger the better.

They have built a 46 with triple 700's that runs around 120. I think more people go to the 46 now instead of the 42. Have you really ever seen a 42 Outerlimits with only 1400 total horsepower?? There's hardly any out there. In my opinion that combo for an Outerlimits owner wouldn't push the boat fast enough, and Im talking 100mph not being fast.

We have a customer with an 02 42 legacy with 500efi's and 6's.Ac heat and a gen set. The guy has finished every pokerrun, had zero issues and will get 400 hours befor a 7k a motor refresh. Merc is selling a ton of 700's to people who have been there and done that with 1000+ hp motors. Alot of people are getting rid of the carb big inch motors. Most of the cats now are going to 700's and running faster then the v's with 5 times the reliability of the big hp motors and not to mention 3 times the life span and whay easier to maintain. The 700's may not go as fast but we have all seen boats comming back on one motor and most of them aren't 700's. There is nothing worse then an 8 mph cruise for 30 miles watching everyone go by.

I remember that customer...the reason he ordered the boat that way was that he had a friend who was going to Pro-Charge the motors for him (hence the bullit proof drive set-up) but the boat ran so good and trouble free, he decided to keep the motors stock.
