I suspect the model and age have a lot to do with it as well. No offense to the 37 guys, but it's now a dated model and hardly representative of the construction and design you see rolling out of the OL factory these days... although still a very nice boat.

I know this is no comparison, but Cigs are a little different in that they have historically had limited evolution in build or appearance. OL OTOH is a cutting edge company so older models tend to show their age a little more so than Cigs, for this reason I would expect to start seeing older models devalue a little more.

The 37 has actually held it value very strong concidering the newest 37 available is still 10 years old, and many are as old as 17 years old. The early boats sold for well under 300K new, and are still fetching 100K +

Fred, I agree percentage wise they have held their value quite well, just saying that this model will be a little less desirable going forward compared to say something like your 42. It's not even an epoxy layup (correct?), or a current model. But the fact that all the OL boats hold their value so well is a testimate to how nice the boats have become. :cool:

Just an observation or perhaps I should say theory...

I would rather have a nice 37 with 6's than a newer 39. I have only been in 2 epoxy boats and they were early ones but I didn't like the feel they had. The build was great and they drove great just felt harsh. I hear the new stringer setup fixed that but havn't been in one.

The biggest problem with boat sales is the economy, 5 years ago you could have put a sign on that boat in front of you house and sold it. There are a ton of nice boats just sitting, look at the blue 08 51 trip 700's that boats been for sale for years, there were a few worn Cig.ts TG's for under 100k a while ago now back for sale after refresh and not much more money still sitting.

Maybe OL should do like UPS, ever seen an old worn out UPS truck? Nope, they take the trucks back and restore or part them out or scrap them.
I remeber a few years ago talking to Terry Sobo he was watching a 36 cat that was torn up real bad in a storm, they (Nortech) was going to buy it and cut it up just to make sure it didn't get slapped back together and be outhere hurting somebody or the NT name.

That 08 51 with trip 700's has been overseas.....not for sale forever.

Been on LCM's web site for 2 years, don't know where the boats been.

Dont believe anything on LCM wed site.

I wont now it's been on there a long time as a new boat, that was the 07 Luaderdale show boat right? Now it seems it was over seas and being used. Looked like they had that one and the red/cream/white ones for sale as new stock.
