Tomas nice numbers on the dyno !!

I'm sure its listed here somewhere but without me going through 28 pages of thread : Are you still running the steel heads ?? Also what cam are you running now ??

I ask b/c besides the bore & stroke our motors are very similar internally & cu" wise.. I am at 511 cu" with 4.375 bore x 4.25 stroke.. I was thinking your motor had ported 990's on it when you got it right ?? Also its funny b/c if I remember corectly our cams were nearly identical too , but not sure if you went back with it or changed it up ??

Hey thanks,

Unfortunately I have now burned a piston... The intercooler pickup sucks and is now replaced with a new one I was stupid enough to not gauge the intercooler water pressure:angry-smiley-038:. I will also feed the motor some more fuel just to be sure and start leaning it out from there.
Yes I still have the steel 088 (or was it 188?) heads.

I have a cam from RMBuilder
242º/250º @ .050" / .646"/646" lift valve / 112LSA

You burned a piston, even if thers no intercooler should not have happened, Theres other problems too much boost timeing or jetting. Intercooler are missunderstood they do help and wook well but you cant run a motor dependant on its function. Maby in a perfect world but not in a pleasure boat.

As I wrote in my post I will feed it some more fuel and start from there. The timing is only at 29deg but I just might lower that to 28 as well. We'll see :)

32-34 deg timeing 92-93 square in carbs no power valve it will live forever secret formula but you probaly wont do it ..

B-Stubb 06-02-2009 04:29 PM

I looked at you dyno too much boost drop to 7 and dyno always run rich so when its in the boat its lean .. I have a 55 gall on drum full of pistons you will to untill you learn

I agree with B-Stubb. Taking timing away and adding fuel isn't the answer.

With 31deg timing it was louder on the knock meter, going to 29 did eliminate the suspected knock spikes.

Would you like to explain what makes that secret formula better than the std jetting style with prim, sec and PV's?

Hi Lukiepal,
I used Bruces old 28 Pantera just one season, 2006. Then I sold her to Pelle in Finland. I Believe he's working on it and she will be back on water 2010 or so. I miss that boat.
The P4-4 are runnig just great. A Bit slow maybe... :D
A funny thing is that we used Bruces old helmets prev weekend on race. Tomas as navigator and me driving, old school classic is the sh*t :D

Hey Lukie,

It's going quite well - still lacking some power/speed though, still haven't passed 86mph this summer. :( Hoping to get my hands on a P5X during the winter.

For the moment it's back on the trailer but there's a couple more events it will participate in.

There has been way to much lack of boating this summer - and last... Haven't been in any bigger seas what so ever and that definately sucks!
