As mentioned above check your neutral safety switch. I believe it's located near where the shift cable is attached to the exhaust. It should be a yellow and a yellow w/ red strip pair of wires. If you jump the two wires together it will bypass the switch.

It probably is not the kill switch, because even if it's unplugged the motor will still turn over.

The neutral safety switch should be connected to the shifter arm where the cables connect to the shifter. I don't think the volts would drop though if it was not engaging.

First thing to try is a battery. If that does not work, see if you can turn the engine crank with a breaker bar.

I had to stop messing with the boat and start working on the house. Plus, I do not know my way around the engine as well as everyone else here. Especially when I would have to crawl around it. Going to try to call the tech that winterized it. Just pissed, as I am going to have to pay $90.00 to have the oil changed, just b/c I was not able to get it started. Or could I wait to change the oil when I get it back?

Outcome was a bad ignition switch and selinoid. The mechanic noted that the distributer has a lot of rust in it. Noted that should consider dealing with ,etc. the MSD that is in it is for a car. Should I change this system completely, and if so, what recommendations does everyone have.

Call Summit. You can buy a new pick-up msd-84661 $21.00 and msd-8415 reluctor wheel for $55.00. Check the gear while your ate it. That is all the parts unless you have mechanical advance. Spring kits are also available. A good cleaning once a year will keep it from happening again.

MSD will rebuild it for something like $75. My understanding is they send you a refurb with all new parts as soon as they get yours.
