I have a 80' 24 footer, I bought on here 1 year ago this August. Haven't had time or space to work on it yet. The restoration was started but I haven't had time to finish it. Bravo 1, 454. I'm considering selling it and buying a newer 28 footer, if anyone is interested.

...its alive!...:D I just dug it out of my shop this weekend and replaced the starter selenoid, charged the batterys, and it fired right up. Sounds sweet. That was the first time I've ever tried to fire it up. It probably needs a carb rebuild kit, the float was sticking a bit on the primary bowl. I took it apart and re-adjusted it and seems to be running fine now though.
One thing I need help with is, the engine hatch was never on the boat when I bought it and I'm trying to mount it and there is no hardware with the boat. Can someone post any pictures of their hatch and the mounting hinges/hardware? Also, does anyone know what the correct height the engine should be mounted? This one seems a bit high, someone modified the hatch and cut out holes for the exhaust and the aircleaner. Was there ever a highrise hatch made for a 24 footer? As always thanks for the help. Here is a picture when I picked the boat up from delivery. |
Its probably the only Pantera in the state of Kansas...:D

Don't know if this helps much but here are a few shots of the hatch hardware on my old 24. These pics where taken during restoration. I hope it helps ! Later , Scott

Thanks Scott, mind has holes cut into the fiberglass portion that you show here, for the exhaust and air cleaner. Is that normal? It is a 454 with a single plane highrise intake and I'm not sure of the exhaust.
I did notice there is adjustment on the mounting bolts. Should the engine be lowered? What driving line angles are acceptable. I would guess it is about 3-5 inches too high for the hatch. Thanks, Troy |
I don't remember any measurements on the engine , however the mounting height should be in relation to the X diminsion ( drive height ) I am not sure but isn't it the exhaust that hits the hatch on your boat ? I also remember that boat having a merlin single plane intake on it which may also give a problem with a large aircleaner on it. I know mine had a performer 2.0 on it with a fairly tall aircleaner on it & it cleared fine , but with a 1" spacer on it it just bairly touched.
I do think that ( Chaos' ) old boat now Russ' new boat has a either merlin or dart single plane on it & I believe he has a reagular hatch on it. Get ahold of Russ & I am sure he could get you a measurement off of something for you. Both my old boat & russ' are TRS boats though. & with your boat having a Bravo put on it the X may have been set higher giving some of the problem. |
