who sits in a stand up bolster?
reguarding my 28.
I wouldn't want to sit in the seat if the bottom was latched shut. It just keeps me too high and doesn't feel right. I've been working on a mock up to allow some support to the glutes and keep me in the "go get'um" position with my feet planted foward. Is anybody else interested in something like this? |
In my 25' Baja Force, I had sit-down bolsters, no drop-out, and they were on a box storage base.
I liked the storage under the seat, but I always ran standing up. Which sucked. I only had the front edge of the seat against the back of my mid thigh. I'm still having a hard time making a decision between sit-down, or drop-out in my 24'. I just can't imagine running in the rough and sitting down. But, at the same time, my old Baja had a lot more freeboard than my Pantera. Not sure how I'm gonna feel hanging it out with the gunwale at my hip - or lower. So, I've helped you none in the answer. |
what about having the drop out at diff angles so you can half way sit while running hard.

I used to sit in mine on my 28 all the time. Especially on long cruises. I don't know about your boat, but in mine sitting in the bolsters would get me lower in the boat, and with the flip ups, out of the direct wind.

I sit only when the wind is getting me too bad (have a windshield). Other than that I am standing. Plus, if I am not flattened out all the way I can't see over the bow far enough ahead, makes me a bit nervous so I stay standing.

OK I've scrapped a couple of designs and I'm going with simple and basic.
I'm taking my seat bases to the powder coater after the new brackets are welded up. I thought I would show a before pic on the stands. Basicly I'm adding a plate for additional adjustments. I will add a wedge shim to the front of the seat pad and split the seat bottom to give it a multi angle.( I'll take pics of that later) |

the issue with dropping the seat and sitting lower will be leg room.
Now how could I solve that??.............................. LET THE MADNESS BEGIN :evilb: |
