Redoing the interior in my 28
2 Attachment(s)
Since the green bolster needed a new upholstery we decided to do a complete makeover of the interior.
Going for sit-down! This is what we have decided on, PPI will start making the front seats and back seat right after the Miami boatshow. What do you guys think? |
very nice
|
Looks awsome! You've got the room in that little cockpit to fit sitdowns for everyone? Very cool!
I've been thinking sitdowns for my boat... My knees are just about used up! |
That looks friggin' great!!
Isn't it funny how these small repairs turn into "redo" the whole damn thing... Look forward to meeting up with you and the other guys in Miami. |
I like it
|
SWEET!, but the black is going to get hot.
|
super cool :cool-smiley-011:

But seriously, It won't be all 100% black, It will be dark grey on the sides and lighter grey in the seats. I know it will get hot but I still want it. :D

Tomas, looks good, but i thought your old cockpit layout was one of the coolest.

Yes so did I in a way, but the old interior was getting old and needs to be redone and the future resale value will increase by redong the complete interior. I will replace the old gauges with new Gaffrig Racing's and some other things. We're also planning for a foot throttle but nothing's descided yet. |
Foot throttle! Now that's some old-school California jet boat stuff right there! :D
I was comparing cockpit size to a full pleasure boat (at this point I just look for excuses to say "full pleasure" hahaha). Can't wait to see how she comes out! |

It's not the first time, but it's too fun to not do the best and most out of these "small" projects. When are you going to Pantera then? I will try to get us Swedes to come up with a date today. My project is still coming along, and working on upholstery now. And my wife is doing all the shopping for parts and things on E-bay and other places - she's actually enjoying it. Got a new flame arrestor in today, and last night she cut a deal on a hatch actuator. Sure beats her going shopping at the mall for useless crap like some wives:D Planning on doing the factory on Fri. the 15th, and then the show on the 16th. At least that's what's been brought up in another thread. |
Hey Tomas, have you run an offshore boat with a foot throttle before? If so, how do you like it compared to a hand throttle?

Ha! Rob you give me too much credit! The best idea I've ever had would hardly light the fridge!
I'm mostly just asking out of curiosity. I've noticed that Jackie Hunt runs one in the P1 Supersport boat. I wondered if it made it easier to drive and throttle... |
It may be different in the Pantera but getting bumped around in my jet boat sometimes bumps on and off the throttle.

Then it's the seat heights, I like to have a bit of perspective of the waters ahead of me so that must me correctly adjusted, that's partly why I'm going to lower the headrests about 4" or so (as in the pic) so they don't stick out too much of the cockpit.. |
Make sure whatever foot throttle you go with has a hook on it, so you can pull back if necessary with your foot.
I had a return spring break on mine at 97-98 mph in my Allison. Not the best feeling, but thank god I had the ability to pull it back with my foot (because of the hook/loop over my foot. ;)) |
Guess it's probably like driving an off road truck...

I have also redone the gauge panel during the winter.

There's also a new fuel pump and all the fuel hoses has been redone (again) and I have also redone some of the wiring with a couple relays etc. Moved the batteries to infront of the cockpit since I removed the lead plates from the bow.
Some of the pics are a bit old so it's not the final results... |

I got the new drive from Mr Gadgets a couple weeks ago... I couldn't help it but it's an XR upper, IMCO lower with an oil pump, filter and cooler. CryoŽed gears etc.
|
Lookin' good. Can't wait to see it finished.

Tomas, everything looks awesome! At least someone's enjoying the weak US dollar! :D
What's the story with drive oil pump and cooler? I was thinking about something like that recently. Again, looks great!! |

Heat (and metal) is what kills the Bravo's so the oil cooler together with the filter will definately help it stay alive for a long time. I don't trust the drive showers to keep the oil temp as cool as it should be so this is the best solution. I have an oil temp gauge, from the same series as the rest of the gauges, on its way over the pond right now. I can definately recommend Mr Gadgets. He's VERY good to do business with! |

I mounted my batteries in front of the cockpit in the cabin area also, but mine had a floor to mount them on:D
There was 12 pieces of 30lbs (or so) lead plates bolted to the bow. I will start with the batteries as the only weight in the bow and will most likely put back some lead plates when I have tried it out for a few runs. |

Yeah, I had to make an aluminum bracket to bolt the front side of the battery brackets to and bolted the back side to the bulkhead.
