I finally broke the 90MPH barrier yesterday, went from 88 to 92.2mph at the rpm limiter! :evilb:

Above 90 it went like a fully loaded freight train and was steady as a rock. It felt better than ever and completely reliable!

Hydromotive P5 29 that was originally processed by Throttle-Up for a Phantom 30 in the SVL-class.

Yes that's pretty funny since I got the idea for the interior from that boat a couple years ago, and now the boats are running together.

Stormrider 06-01-2011 10:27 AM

Any update on this?

OCCJoe 06-01-2011 09:48 PM

Stormrider I some how ended up with 50 projects and didn't get it finished yet . I have this sickness that won't just let me throw something together and be done , No I have to make sure it's the only , the biggest , the fastest , the strongest . You get the point .
Can get very expensive when you have this problem . I need a couple more little pieces and I'll hit the water ..

Occ where are you loosing the couple hundreds pounds??? Throwing the beer and chicks off?! I was reading that the pantera's are about 800 pounds heavier then competition, but more solid i take it..

Way more solid , delete bow hatches , front 40 gal gas tank , cut wood floor , back seat and hatch out and replace with divincil core and changed seating out to carbon fiber MoMo . Probably dropped 350 lbs total

pantera232 06-15-2011 08:05 PM

nice i know that engine cover ways a ton, some carbon fiber there would help, where can you get devinvil core?

Are you saying you removed tank from rear and put in a 40 gallon up front.

No I had a 60 gal in the rear and a 40 in the front . No poker runs in this boat so I didn't need to carry 100 gallons . You can get any marina to order foam coring for you . $$$ be prepared its not cheep .

Byt the time you're done with her, she might only be a couple hundred pounds heavier than a standard layup Superboat .. :party-smiley-004:.. :lolhit: j/k.. Joe, I'm looking forward to watching the progress and results

Been a few years.
Ever get'er done?

OCCJoe 01-26-2013 08:43 PM

Forgot all about this thread . Talk about one thing leading to another and another and another . I wound up finding a rotten transom so I replaced it then I built a set of core reinforced stringers and put them in ,and all new bulk heads . So then I decided I didn't want the classic look and started designing a new top deck and we are now turning my old deck into a plug . It will be the first poker run 24 Pantera . We will be able to build and install these new decks for anyone with a 24/7 in either carbon fiber or fiberglass .
We now own a set of molds and will be building 26/7's stepped and notched with our poker run top decks on them so I'm gonna finish the Pantera , run it and then sell it .
In the end I lost 800lbs , went from 565hp to 750 and lost the TRS with tranny and put a surface drive on it so I don't think breaking a hundred is gonna be a problem . However I cant very well keep a 24 Pantera when Im gonna be building , endorsing and selling my own brand ...
I will definitely post an update as soon as I run it !

slpcamaross97 01-26-2013 11:26 PM

How about some pics?

Very cool and intresting project Joe!

Some pictures would be very nice!

Have a simular project on going. Since we bought the molds for the Mark Schnepf 27 Activator we are now up to doing the plug for a 28 seamless cockpit boat and also a seamless 28 open.
The mold now have the twin step inlay from the 30 Rage/Activator.
We are right now doing 2 classic deck 27's for race our national class.
When I say "we" - I'm just a partner in it. I do not doing any of the building job. But I know how I wan't it :D
The first 28 cockpit boat will be rigged with a Mercury 800EFI and ITS XR Sportmaster.

Put some pics all that talk and no pics is boring,
100 mph on a 24' seriously is not safe in anyway,
That thing is gonna chime walk all over the place you'll
Probably fly and flip it. LOL put some pice of that new mold.

OCCJoe 01-27-2013 10:39 AM

There are boats way smaller and lighter that do well over 100 ! I never had chime walk in the old setup at 85 and it trimmed to the max , I did wiggle the nose in the air like a marlin jumping out of the water . Trim shouldn't be a problem with the surface drive ..
I have a full time fiberglas technician on staff working very hard to finish all of our molds before we put any into production .
I'm gonna do some homework and see if I can do an Ilmor MV8 in our first turn key boat .

slpcamaross97 01-27-2013 08:46 PM

whats the new deck look like?

OCCJoe 01-27-2013 11:17 PM

I stole the design features of the 42 fountain Poker Run with the windshields in it .
