There was more than a puddle. I went in the cuddy and opened one of the hatches (there is no step down in the cuddy of this boat) its all the same height as the floor in the cockpit and the water was all the way up to the floor with mold and algae growing ALOT in it. The drains back to the bilge were plugged apparently, and had been that way for quite a while. This boat has sat outside uncovered for a long time. It was in an impound lot for quite a few years before the current owner bought it. It was apparently a "work boat" in its past life.:party-smiley-004:

Did you take the motors apart? I never said it was a good deal; I just said it wasn't junk. Sorry I'm picking on you guys, but you haven't really given any definitive reasons as to why the motors are junk or the hull is wet. It sounds like you saw a puddle in the bilge with some leaves, and a little rust on the motor and you rendered the entire boat junk. THen you go off on the trailer not having a title as if its uncommon, its not. |
Which one is the race boat?

Those k-planes and pumps are worth good money too:coolcowboy:
If you are lucky, you might break even on the parts after having them for sale for a year. That boat is not worth the time or $$ to fix. |

You need to quit advertising your boat and just hang on to it for a few months.:lolhit:

+1 on Tex buying the boat. |
Do you guys think this boat is worth $7000 ? $6000 ? $5000 ? ? ?
I think the parts alone have got to be worth a few thousand ... right ? When I bought my Python the trailer it was on didn`t have a title... hhmmmm, who was it that I bought that from ?? :party-smiley-004: |

In Texas a trailer does not need a title unless it can carry 3500 lbs or more. |
If That Thing Is "wet" I Bet It Weighs More That 3500lbs Better Get A Trailer Reg

And how many projects have you done?
Are you saying you never even stood in the bilge? Did you even take a core sample? Why is it all these people without boats are making comments about this boat being junk, yet the guys with boats and guys that have actually done major projects say this boat is not junk? |
LOL, I'd much rather spend my time pissing you two off.
Do you know how many boat are sitting right now with standing water in the cabin and bilge? These aren't old boats either I'm talking about brand new boats, cigs, fountains, black thunders, etc. That doesn't automatically deem the core wet. If you had half a clue you would of done a simple core sample before deeming the entire boat "wet." But as I presumed you didn't do a core sample and instead opted to look at a puddle and deemed the whole boat "wet." Most every boat that sits outside will inevitably collect water somewhere. If the stringers were glassed in correctly its not a problem. Since your not a fiberglass professional and you never actually inspected the core then you have no clue as to whether the core is wet. Do you know of anyone on here that has done a major restoration and got all their money back out of it when they sold it or for what they could of bought it for used? Your dreaming. |
Just go buy the boat and prove your worth to the world..cause right now..you aint worth sh*t in my book..you havent seen the boat, nor stood in it..how many boats have you done there Mr. Core Sample..

this thread is getting good... dont stop now i just got the popcorn out of the microwave!!!!!

No core in a Pantera hull right??? That would make it hard to get a core sample...

Well...I must say that this is an interesting thread. It seems we have a boat that was mistreated, abused, and probably damaged beyond reasonable repair. The issue is not whether it CAN be brought back to life..but at what cost ? According to one enthusiastic member...."nothing is junk"..."nothing is beyond repair". That may be true, but when do you say "uncle" ? This same member asked if a core sample was taken. Well, if you go with his theory...what would the core sample matter ? Everything is fixable right ? A few people on this site actually SAW the boat...the parts...and the surroundings it was in. I'm assuming these werent the only guys that looked at this vessel...probably dozens more that we dont even know about....AND ITS STILL FOR SALE !!! That right there should speak volumes as to the condition its in. It sucks to walk away from something, but once in awhile things just hafta be let go. There are ships at the bottom of the great lakes. Been there for many, many years. I guess someone could say they are still "fixable"...but is it realistic ? No. Too much time, money, grief, and politics. Hence the phrase "just not worth it".
I would think that theres gotta be someone on this site that lives near this boat that would go on an adventure, take some GOOD pictures (lots), and maybe some video of the hull, trailer, and the parts that come with it...then post them on here. I know I would if I could. :drink: So, I'm gonna side with the guys who have actually seen the carnage...touched the boat...and smelled the mold and algea. Someone who hasnt done any of the above...has only speculation to go by. :drink: |
Well, I say someone fix this thing to my standards and I'll buy it for $20k.
