Looked at pic again. Your drive shower would have to go, but you could drill/tap 90 fitting into this plate and attach hose.

it is the older style. wonder if outside housing of early XRs have the same dimensions as regular old Bravo 2004 and earlier. If it would fit I have custom made top plate SS but not polished. I have plate, spacers, but you would need 6 longer SS studs/wash/nylock nuts. Also would need bolt or stud to mount rams to plate, but could probably use your old ones w/spacers, etc. I can get you a pic later if interested.

I am. Thx

sorry my bad guys. Mike I thought you had Neils old mayfair/marine machine stuff...you have newer hardin/mayfair rams. I'll try to give you a call later tonight and get a pic up. the plate looks old school and that's what i was after for an old project. I'd polish it and it would look unique if it works. can have for next to nothing or you can try if you want to see if works...I'll just call ya later.

You'll have to mount them above the X dimension like Stormrider's pic. Mine are the same way.

I am seriously considering moving my K-planes inward and mounting them horizontal while the engine is out.

I personally think that is a good idea. I had originally planned to do it that way when I swapped from the factory 180s but I let Jo get in my head as he did not recommend it.

But what do Im know? I ran my tabs backwards, as you know:lolhit::ernaehrung004:

LMAO. Hey you don't know how something works until you try it!

I've done a lot of research on the tabs being mounted horizontal and I think it's better in my application. But, what I haven't been able to determine is the height.

IRONMAN 03-25-2012 10:06 AM

I have had great success with the tabs at about 18 to 20 deg. I think that when they are at horizontal and the hull is landing a little right or left then the tab actually will contact the water in a way that may rudder or skid the transom in the direction you are landing and possibly causing or amplifying some chine walk. Also think of it this way: a tab at vertical is 100% rudder and a tab at horizontal is 100% lift but only when the hull is flying level R to L so less angle is more lift and less rudder effect.
