I know a guy who has been cronically unemployed for years, heard him blame it on the economy the other day

I love how Pantera blames this on the Economy. Blaming things on the economy has become the most over used term lately IMO. Sure, the economy effected us all in some way shape or form, however making small adjustments to well balanced books and conservative spending SAVED most all of us.

If you truely have a passsion for building boats you would have made adjustments to your lifestyle to stay in the game. However, the passion seems to be a different one. Living in Miami and playing in this game can be tough, many Jones out there to try to keep up with. Building 28 ft boats in a rental storage unit (at best) isn't going to make you a millonaire, so you choose to spend money that is basically not yours to keep living?

Want to save your name? You must keep books right? Let's see them. Let's see where the money for Berk's boat went? We know the supply costs, we know the rent cost (zero) the tooling should be paid for (well at least free and clear from prior bk) So where did the money go? Or where is the boat?

On second thought I think you are right. BTW, some of the names that you listed are not gone but are mothballed. I believe Baja is back, I think Fountain will return in one form or another and I believe that Donzi will be building boats again soon. I don't have any info on the state of the others.

Good point, all of that 100k would be considered income if just spent instead of being used to make a boat

Couldn't a forensic accountant do that?
