Went out and tested some more today, as always I started out with the Rev 4 but found myself sitting and looking at some other boats cruising at 81mph in 1ft chop. I almost got bored, that's how nice the Pantera rides! Hahaha :evilb: How do the rest of the 24 Panteras behave at those speeds?
The other prop I tested was the one I got with my previous boat, the 28 Pantera. I sold that prop a few years ago and it finally ended up at a friend of mine. It's a labbed 29P Bravo, I could only turn it to 4700 at 78MPH. The slip has always been awful with that prop. |
Here's a few pics from the first real offshore race last weekend. 6ft waves and I needed a ballast tank badly, it was a pain in the a$$ to run with the tabs down, the boat leaned to one side or the other all the time and the tabs are so freaking fast so it was impossible to fine adjust them. It takes about 2seconds to go from up to down positions...
Anyway, here's a few pics. :) http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...ps418115bf.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5b04fdae.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...ps87626810.jpg http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...ps08ec95b6.jpg |
Nice air Tomas . You know it's big when you've got negative trim on the drive and still getting that much air .. Looks like fun , Sounds like you have drive pumps instead of trim pumps .
|
Thanks Joe, :)
Yes I just rebuilt my drive trim pump that started out as a tab pump. It was wicked slow so I put in the largest volume pump module and now it's perfect! The Dana tab stuff is what I got from Dana and I know others with similar problems. :( |
Tomas you've got to tell me how you got the GPS to show on your video
|
I used Cyclecam to make the GPS file to put in the video. The GPS data I got from the Contour camera.
Is was a bit of work to get it working, and quite time consuming... http://inlinepaceline.wordpress.com/...with-gps-data/ |
Thank you ! Very usefull , gonna get it set up ...

A summery of the season!
The Pantera definitely needs a ballast tank - will be ready in a week if I can put enough time on it. The nose cone I put on the lower during the off season didn't do anything good, knocked it off before the last race and finally it turns perfectly again. Broke one and a half blade of my brand new BBlade prop during the last race but had a top speed during the last lap of 80mph with lots of vibrations (and won the race!) and was unable to trim out more than parallel with the bottom. I will now continue my testing with longer strakes, will have them ready next week. Might have a couple mph left on the table so it's going to be interesting! I sent my Rev 4 to BBlades for some adjustments since I'm at the limiter and hopefully I now have some rpms to spare and some more speed. Hopefully I will be able to do some testing next weekend! |
Another one

NIce shots!
What do you make the strakes out of? |
Awesome pics....
|
Given it hell ! That must be testing , I don't see any other boats there.
Tomas your doing 83 with a 496. I would love to see you drop about 700-800 hp in there in the off season and see what it will do. |
I was looking at your seats since I am doing a sit down conversion over the winter. What do you think of them after doing some rough water running?? These are the ones I am looking at putting in mine. They can do white covers and make the backs 4" taller for me. under 500 a piece too. They are a tube frame as opposed to a fiberglass shell with suspension webbing under the padding.
