Id consider wiring a stereo in the cabin with at least a speaker, you'll enjoy the boat more. $.02

Smart phone and 1 of those Bose box's make Surprisingly Good sound! Small, Mobile Very Nice Build!

Agreed, and the speakers won't be at your knees.

Great looking project! Did you have to replace the fuel tank? Mine was just about to rot through when I pulled it.

vintage chromoly 01-27-2013 10:24 AM

Who are you using for upholstery?

That sounds like a good solution.

Thanks. I have been following your project with great interest. Great boat you have. I can't wait to see it complete.

I didn't have to replace the gas tank. It was solid and looked like new inside. This is rumored to have been a fresh water boat all its life. Maybe that helped.

I'm not sure yet who I'm going to use for the interior. I still need to find a pair of old style drop down bolsters.

If anyone has a pair, please drop me a line.

AnurajShah 01-28-2013 07:35 PM

Taking out the dash and straightening out the wiring. Going to fill the hour meter and depth finder holes. Also thinking about a nicer switch panel.

Trying out the new gauges (tach) in the old bezel. I think I like it.

Can someone explain to me the positives and negatives of a solid offshore motor mount?

I got this Mercury part off ebay. It is the only one I have seen that fits between the stringers of this boat. It doesn't have the reinforcements at the bottom like some of the other Mercury mounts.

Is this worth using?

OCCJoe 01-28-2013 08:06 PM

The offshore is 100% for strength and they are very ridged . You will need two aluminum L brackets to mount to the stringers . If you are staying conservative on power maybe 450hp or less you will be fine with stock mercury mounts . The disadvantage of the offshore mount is you feel the vibration of the motor as the rubber merc mount will absorb most of the vibration .. Go with the offshore that way when you add mad power you wont have to worry about upgrading your mounts and drilling another set of holes in those new stringers ...Make sure the bracket clears your oil pan before you finish your engine

Unfortunately the mount you have there wont work with the height of your stringers . I'll post a pic of the style you need but the bolt holes should be down by the bottom and not right under the block mount location

AnurajShah 01-29-2013 04:04 AM

Thanks Joe. Please do post a photo of the proper offshore mount when you get a chance.

Will you flip it over and do the bottom as well?

Tomas, I wish I was doing the bottom. This would be the perfect time to do it. Unfortunately I do not have the resources at this time. I have so much more to purchase for this boat that I do not have the money to pay Pete to do the bottom, and I do not have the space to do it myself.

I saw on the '78 lifeline thread that you have all the lifeline pieces and are willing to sell them. What do you think shipping would cost to the US? Can you send me photos of the parts?

anu _ shah (at) earthlink (dot) net

thanks

slpcamaross97 01-31-2013 08:15 PM

Good to see progress.

Better run in Ipswich with me this year! Picking up a 24 Superboat next week also. So I'll have two boats out there this summer, can't wait.

Looking forward to it. If I can get it in the water in time.

Great pics! we really like to see how the sausage gets made!;) lookin really good!

Brandon Anderson 02-03-2013 09:41 PM

For your engine mount I used a Hardin marine offshore and cut it down as it was to wide for the stringers. I changed mine when I replaced transom and did bravo swap. It works well and I would not reuse the standard merc style mounts for your boat. Mine has yet to be finished. I feel like Johnny Cash...one piece at a time. Looks good

AnurajShah 02-05-2013 11:05 AM

Thanks for the tip. I will look into the Hardin Marine mount.

Brandon Anderson 02-05-2013 06:03 PM

Something you may want to do at this point in the game is put in some foot wells in the front wall of the cockpit, depends if you ever sit I guess. I really wish I had some in my 24 also a closet in the cabin for some extra storage. Just my two cents. I really like your fairing instead of the old style windshield.

ChristopherL 02-19-2013 07:29 PM

Where are the oar locks? :)
Looking good Anu, I'm excited to see it in the water this year.

AnurajShah 02-20-2013 12:49 PM

It will probably need oar locks to get in the water this year! ;)

Or this depending the width between your stringers http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...eservoirs.html Might have to trim the one side down a little

Any news to this rest project?

Pismo10 11-19-2013 04:04 PM

Yes, please, we need the conclusion whatever that may be..

sparky24 11-19-2013 05:05 PM

Did you guys ever finish?

Pismo10 11-20-2013 03:18 PM

What is with that original checkerboard floor? How strange is that. I wonder why that was done..?

JAIME 11-20-2013 05:30 PM

forgot all about this thread, good read. Thanks for bringing it back

AnurajShah 11-22-2013 04:52 AM

No conclusion yet. The boat is still at Pete's shop. No additional progress yet.

I had surgery this summer, and I broke my foot, and I started a new job, and I need to add onto my house, and my wife and I had our first child 3 month ago. Excuses.

I've been spending the down time thinking about graphics and interior. I will get back to this project, get it powered and back into the water. 2015 may be the current target.

Was this boat out of Ohio?

Mario L. 01-11-2014 05:18 PM

I'm going to be having dinner with Anu tonight. And will be working very seriously towards making sure that this boat splashes in 2014!

Tonight's conversation will be about power, drive height etc....... Stay tuned it will be up to Anu to keep this thread updated.

AnurajShah 01-18-2014 07:30 AM

Mario,

I didn't see this post until now. I need to make this happen for 2014. I need to strategize.
