That's an awful lot of ponies for a TRS. I would still like to know how a Borg big block set up in a 24 Pantera handles compared to a Merctrans set-up. I have a little more up my sleeve.....

There must be someone out there who is running a Borg?

Option 2 , I have a BAM 1350 I would like to sell also . I don't know of any Pantera owners that have run the Borg . You should broaden your request to general discussion and maybe 30 and under singles

JAIME has a crashbox in his 24. maybe we can get him to chime in. im thinking his boat might be set up pretty good

kyle these are crash-boxes. you will NEVER break one of these in a 24 http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o49542-en.html

I have to Borgs in my 28, I know it is not a 24 though but what is the difference in engine compartment size other than beam being smaller.

With the crash box i have to kill engine to switch gears, then start. Timing is everything, i would only suggest it if u were gonna race it.JAIME

If your looking at 550HP range you will be fone with the Merc 2 setup. First off moving the CG forward is not advised on your 24'. Second you will have all kinds of servicing issues as the motor will be an inch from the bulkhead depending on your accessoies.

Check out this site for info. on your transmissions. I had them do mine when I raced my 28' Cigarette with 500HP and never had an issue. They are still in the boat today with the new owner.

Did you have KC Marine do your re-build by any chance?

I ordered all the parts from them and had my transmission builder do it . I spent about 700-800 on the rebuild and there was nothing wrong with it to begin with . I was going to put 800hp to it so I figured it should be fresh

Pepe or Jo?
with the motor moved forward and ssm3, my boat handles fine. I think i have more room under the hatch though.
